Promptly acknowledges and greets patients. Determines appropriateness of patient arrival. Interviews and registers patient to obtain demographic, clinical and financial information. Thoroughly searches the Hospital’s database for all patients prior to scheduling and registration to determine whether the patient has already been assigned a medical record number.

Accurately enters all demographic and financial information into the Hospital’s computer system, according to the department’s data standardization policy.

Demonstrates proficiency in assignment of beds within established standards. Collaboratively communicates admissions, transfers and discharges to nursing units. Works closely with physicians to assist in proper placement of direct admits. Assigned Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of guidelines for isolations and patient types.

Depending on the exact shift scheduled, the Pharmacy Technician I will complete a variety of the listed activities. Each site maintains a daily task list for each scheduled shift that includes some of the following activities:

1. Prepares medications for patient use from orders written by physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and computer-generated cart fill list, to be verified by the pharmacist.

2. From prescribers orders, enters information for patient profiles in the pharmacy computer system to be verified by the pharmacist

9. Performs billing functions as needed to place patient charges into the computer system within 48 hours after service delivery.
