Human Resources Manager

RE: Application for the position of Petroleum Engineer

Dear Human Resources Manager,

I am writing to present my credentials and qualifications for the position as a Petroleum Engineer. I am extremely interested in this career opportunity with your company where I can apply my skills and knowledge towards reaching mutual beneficial goals. I enjoy the challenge, sense of accomplishment and instantaneous feedback available working in a real-time environment. I have no issues working irregular hours in support of 24x7 operations as I worked before in the similar environment as a field engineer.

Since graduation I have been working in different areas, such as production, drilling and management in the oil industry. In my fourteen months of experience with Weatherford in Colombia I put in practice all my knowledge as a Petroleum Engineer, dealing with the process of the acquisition of data in the MWD (Measurement While Drilling) process. With this job I supervised all the MWD processes including tool preparation, log generation, data acquisition and quality control in regular shifts (12 hours). I think this is a value for me, because I know how to act in response in the case of an emergency, in the moment we need to take a decision, all this is because I used to work in under-pressure environment.

Also when I worked here in Canada for Weatherford, I put all my experience giving all the support to the field personnel 24 hours. In this position I could improve my communication skills by reason of the interaction with field hands and the drilling companies when they needed any support.

Now in my actual position at Enbridge Pipelines Inc. as Project Records Management Analyst in LP Canadian Projects, I have learnt all the internal process of the manipulation of the records coming from the field. Also, the importance of register, interpret, process all the project documentation.

Throughout schooling and employment, I have developed excellent communication (written and verbal), organizational and supervisory skills, which are key requirements for the Petroleum Engineer position. I am a person full of energy and enthusiasm who is up for any challenges and takes pride in a job well done. Furthermore, I have the strong ability to work effectively with others and foster a supportive working environment with a positive and harmonious attitude. I am sure that my knowledge, skills and willingness to learn will be a great asset for the company. I would be pleased if you contacted me to schedule an interview.

Thank you very much for your attention to this letter. I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Roger Herrera
