Summary
Over 25 years of experience in modeling design and Mechanical drafting utilizing G,D&T and lean manufacturing practices. Experienced in machined components, castings & forgings, large vehicle assemblies, conceptual product design utilizing many different design softwares. Worked in teams on engineering programs as a design liaison between engineering and customers in the following arenas: Turbine Engines, Compressors, Chassis, Powertrain, Hydraulic Fittings, Transmissions and Brake components.
Ricardo, Belleville, MI 01/2016 - 10/2016
Designer II
Worked in the Driveline, Transmission, Engine department providing transmission design support
through initial assembly layout, to component and assembly modeling to 2D customer and
manufacturing drawings for many varied customers.
Designed using CREO, Catia and Unigraphics, Teamcenters and Windchill
Akebono Brake, Farmington Hills, MI 11/2011 – 01/2016
Senior Designer
Design OEM and aftermarket Wheel End products for domestic and foreign automotive markets. Supporting engineering group and plant manufacturing issues.
Provided model request service of established product line for customers by creating models in preferred platform.
Designed using Unigraphics NX7.5, Catia, Solidworks, GM & Ford Teamcenters
Rolls Royce, Mount Vernon, OH 01/2011 – 11/2011
Turbine Machinery Designer
Provided meshing in Ansys 11 and design modeling support for the energy group on turbine engines and compressors for off shore drilling platforms, planes and ships.
Designed using Unigraphics NX6, Teamcenter
Teledyne Turbine Engines, Toledo, OH 12/2007 – 1/2010
Designer
Provided design support in team environment on new turbine engines. Also supported modifications to production turbine engine, government driven programs.
Designed and developed support equipment for a complete renovated test cell for a new turbine engine test start up.
Layout consisted of new intake and exhaust air, fuel, electrical and water lines. Test cell equipment consisted of new engine stand, support cage, intake piping, high temperature exhaust piping and instrumentation panels.
Utilized GD&T into design for proper manufacturing production.
Designed using Unigraphics NX6. Model files transferred via FTP sites, Tiff and JPEG.
Eaton-Aeroquip Corporation, Maumee, OH 10/2000 – 3/2006
Designer/Checker
Worked directly with outside customers and engineering on new hydraulic fitting and hose product ideas and designs.
Provided design support by receiving engine models, creating connector layouts in model space and transferring designs
to customers through FTP sites for immediate customer approval and in preferred Cad platform.
Utilized GD&T into design for proper manufacturing production.
Designed using SDRC Ideas, AutoCAD and Unigraphics. Model files transferred via FTP sites, Tiff, and JPEG.
Saar-Gummiwerk-Gmbh, Dearborn, MI 3/2000- 10/2000
Designer
On-site supplier design support for a Brazilian, Ford venture, integrating seal and moulding designs into the development
and continuous design changes.
Created sweeps around vehicle openings, in position and created section views through all vehicle openings to check for
interference and positioning. Approved parts populated into Ford’s database after design freeze for digital buck.
Utilized GD&T into design for proper manufacturing production.
Designed using SDRC Ideas and Metaphase FTP site.
Dana Corporation-Driveshaft Div., Holland, OH 1/1986 –2/2000
Designer-Draftsmen
Chassis and Driveline designed OEM and aftermarket products for heavy and light duty applications for numerous customers i.e. Ford, Chrysler, Nissan, Freightliner and Government programs. General Motors assemblies modeled and maintained in Unigraphics.
Designed castings and forgings for finished and/or machined components (Splined Shafts, Slip Yokes, End Yokes, Center Bearings, Companion Flanges, CV joints and etc).
Modeled Chassis and driveline assemblies using finished components as buildup in driveshafts, CV Joints, coupling shaft, steering shafts and system balanced assemblies utilizing customer and mating criteria.
Held a joint patent on a Center Bearing design variation driven by customer need.
Utilized GD&T into design for proper manufacturing production.
Designed using ProCadam, SDRC Ideas and Unigraphics. Model files transferred via FTP sites, Tiff, and JPEG.
