Designing, building, and testing an Access 2007 database for the food bank run by the church. Bar code scanners are used to accept food donations received from contributors and also to document their receipt by clients coming to the church.

It replaced an all-manual process that had many errors and no member or employee history visibility.

Developing a VB 6.0 / ODBC application using connection strings to a T-SQL 2008 R2 backend as part of a team for the largest resort complex on the U.S. gulf coast, eliminating expensive errors costing $1,000’s per year.

It integrates the workflow for several departments in 2 separate locations, reducing errors and increasing productivity by 20%.

Georgia State University (GSU), Atlanta (telecommute) Dec 12 – June 13

Systems Analyst

Designed and developed VB.NET winforms applications using ODBC connection strings and Visual Studio 2012 for primate intelligence / memory studies for the Language Research Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

OOD was used and wrote all the forms, reports and queries, providing entity relation diagrams as part of the documentation.

The programs are used by animal subjects and the test results stored in a text file because the volume is small and the client does not want licensing fees.

All of the coding and most of the beta testing were my responsibility.

Virginia 911 EMS, Norfolk (telecommute) Feb 11 – Present

Designed and developed VB.NET Win forms applications using ODBC and ActiveX classes for a 911 state wide emergency supplies inventory database.

Entire UI was redesigned by me and the project manager. Convert a Visual Studio 2005 VB.NET legacy system to Visual Studio 2010 increasing performance 200%.Wrote all the queries and forms, providing entity relation diagrams as part of the documentation, correcting errors in the data, entity and referential integrity.

Convert an Access 2003 back end legacy system to Access 2007 making massive changes to the structure (metadata) reducing record size by20%.

The code uses ADO.NET and bar code scanning and printing for the inventory items. All of the coding and most of the beta testing are my responsibility. Conversion toSQL was evaluated, using stored procedures where possible.

Pain and Wellness Center, Largo, Florida Dec 12 – Feb 13

Enhanced / validated An Access DB using a MySql 5.1.41 backend for a private medical practice in central Florida reducing DB size by more than 25%. Increased experience with Xampp and Apache server products because the MySQL DB is using them.

All of the coding and most of the beta testing were my responsibility. VBA macros were not needed or used.

I Converted an Excel sheet cost accounting / CRM system to an MS Access application.

I used dynamic T-SQL, I wrote all the queries and Crystal reports. This eliminated expensive errors that were costing $1,000’s per year.

Be done with no increase in staff. Excel sheets are imported and exported from the Access application to QuickBooks removing 90% of accounting mistakes. Word documents are created from Access record sets which had not been possible before.

I converted the back end DB to MS T-SQL 2005 to support many users when it became too big for Access. 10 staff were doing twice as much work with far fewer errors than before. All of the coding and most of the beta testing were my responsibility.

Cotton Construction-Houston, Texas (telecommute) Jan 08 – Apr 10

I Converted an Excel sheet T & M accounting system and CRM system to an MS Access application for a restoration construction company in Houston. This removed most of the employees time and materials errors in the Excel sheet system.

Approx. 300 users are entering timesheets and material usage with almost no errors, as business rules are enforced now.

I wrote all the queries, using dynamic T-SQL and Crystal reports because of the number and sophistication of the reports, many of which are completely new and weren’t possible before. All of the coding and most of the beta testing were my responsibility.

Data Forensics-Norcross, Georgia Jan 07 – Jan 08

The development / upgrade of VB 6.0 / Access / T-SQL application for Data Forensics in Norcross,Georgia using VBA / VB6, VB.NET SDLC and Excel on GIS databases used by both private civil engineers and civil service.

This allows interfaces with other programs not possible before. All of the coding and most of the beta testing were my responsibility.
