PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

The Gordian Group 02/2015 – 12/2016

Senior Production Database Administrator / Database Manager

I was hired to lead the DBA team, and to teach a junior DBA how to manage 22 SQL Servers properly.

I setup:

oFull, Differential, and Transaction Log backups

oDBCC checks

oVLF checks

oEmail alerts

I created several new clusters and 2012 Availability Groups

I worked with the developers to teach them how to use the listeners in the Availability Groups

I created a PowerShell script to setup SQL Servers when new ones are spun up from VMware

oWe now are at over 50 SQL Servers.

I perform monthly patching of the servers, as well as keep all the SQL instances patched with the latest service pack and CU (cumulative update).

I have taught our server admins about clustering and what that takes to keep them up and running reliably.

INFOR 08/2012 – 02/2015

Senior SQL Architect / Senior SQL DBA 05/2014 – 02/2015

I have been tasked with creating a new data center in the Amazon AWS site.

I created PowerShell scripts to install SQL Server 2012, Enterprise edition, and then customize the servers with this:

oCreate a Cluster,

oSet up Availability Groups

oSet up the Listener inside SQL Server.

Senior Systems Administrator / DBA Cloud Services 08/2012 – 05/2014

My responsibilities include:

.

Sage Automotive Interiors 07/2012 – 08/2012

Database Administrator

I was brought in to assist Sage with setting up their databases from a Data Center, to be controlled by a direct employee DBA. Since they did have a DBA, I was brought in to manage their databases and setup new policies for data security, performance tuning, and disaster recovery. Also, I was asked to setup a new set of 6 servers, to cluster two of them, and mirror data from the cluster to a third server. The other two servers are for SSRS Reporting

Greenville County School District 01/2012 – 07/2012

Database Administrator

I was contracted to manage the Oracle databases for the districts’ main application called Power School. I was responsible to monitoring, backing up, and replicating databases to other servers. I converted the database from Oracle 10g to 11g for upgrading their application to a new version. I also managed over 100 servers for the Power School application.

I converted SSIS packages that were running slow to a new 64-bit server. These then ran 80% faster. I created a new server with RAID 10 drives.

I created procedures on how to secure the databases and how developers should not have access to production servers.

I diagnosed a critical application that was running poorly, and was able to get it setup on a new server that I specified, and load SQL Server 2012 on it. I got it working excellently with a new SSIS package, and email notifications.

I maintain two clustered SQL Servers. I provide security policies, and disaster recovery. I have setup replication to a remote SQL Server for a production server.
