I have served as a member in a position with the Juneau Assisted Living for Seniors Task Force
and now the Juneau Coalition for Housing and Homelessness. My openness to a new praxis of
enhanced goals and objectives stem from who I am. My character and life are a culmination
having been a committed educator and resolute administrative professional with more than
nineteen years of making a difference in the lives of humankind. Dr. Steven Covey is my Guru
and organizational mentor. In his effective book the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, it
impacted my life in a proactive manner and will continue to produce a meaningful harvest.
It is out of my CBJ citizenship of four + years in Juneau, Alaska, I have established a working
search in coming to better understand our beautiful community’s environmental and human
needs. My specific mission is about fulfilling on the needs to address our human needs for our
CBJ worthy Unaccompanied Homeless Youth and High School Students who are struggling to
graduate from our three Juneau High Schools. I want to help turn around the statistical blight
on our charismatic youth who are also human beings of God created with divine talents but
they are lounging from one location to another in our State of Alaska an especially here in the
City and Borough of Juneau.
Whereas I have real understanding that within our high quality education system here locally,
there are those students who fall thorough the cracks and the statistical out comes are not at all
favorable for them. All of these talented residents while to some degree are in our city
hibernating, they get somewhat excited and hopeful when a compassionate individual talks to
them about their immediate needs and their innate potential. I believe you can count on me to
step up to the plate and do the needful to address the challenges and build up opportunities for
the needs of our wonderful Juneau younger residents.
My modes of operandi are to move day by day with the desires as a team player who seeks to
understand first and then proceed to develop and strengthen existing agencies and
organizationals that exist to service these youth in needs. With an professional portfolio from
my serving as a teacher and principal, my training and ability to pro-actively touch lives of
worthy young people of diverse cultural backgrounds is evidence in my personal qualifications
and having given my life in the service of them. Where I can fit in to be a catalytic person to
actualize and practice needed creative leadership skills, it is the ground of being for me, such
that, I shine and bring forth a good harvest for the betterment of humankind wherever I live.
My leadership has improved several scenarios in the past with goalless High School students to
bring them into Mesa Community College for GED and career opportunities. My program
actually jump starting their aspirations, encouraged them and there were many students who
went on to become productive and skilled young men and women in our city of Mesa and
Phoenix. In additional my cultural immersion as in ten years of being a Missionary in Kenya
East Africa, enabled me to leave a good lasting legacy appreciated by many I worked with,
even to this day. Having this kind of personal on the job training increases the results in my
having good achievements and successes for a lot of young people when I returned to the USA.
Also it’s been a plus by helping more individuals raise up personally and in group scenarios to
have catharsis from cultural and social unacceptable affects on them. They were able to
discharge some pent up debilitating emotions so as to what resulted was in their becoming
personally responsible and with self awareness that if change was to come it must start with
they themselves. One could see the chains falling off of them and a sense of individual freedom
evolve. This more than anything is what brings real hope and this kind of program can be
successful when implemented here in CBJ. When I assist these couch surfing youth in
envisioning afresh to their satisfaction, it can as well and did result in quality mission and
possible goal statements anew where there were previous challenges and needed refinements.
My life history is enclosed herein because I want to provide some background as to my
personal accomplishments with students who had not constructed a future for themselves and
inclusively some of my personal experiences and work ethic. As I believe in being a team
player, my membership is in partnership with students, my aim would be to help uncover their
hibernating God given talents and abilities so that they further discover their potentialities and
their latent goals, vision and aspirations. All people have within themselves a feeling and wish
that their dreams can become realized. I have successfully worked out meaningful programs
for struggling high school students that work hand and glove with building them up by
enabling them to believe afresh in themselves. These students find out and come to believe
aglow in their lives that all alone they were more able than they had previously thought
possible and achievable their lives. I get personal satisfaction when I witness students make
ready themselves for taking and passing their GEDs. As they are self motivated to put in
applications and go for job training skills development and then take the steps necessary
towards to becoming tax paying citizens they get personal satisfaction. By choosing to take
steps towards the challenges of skills training to get their careers, they are more confident than
before. Such that, they get personal senses of worthiness and successfulness. This excels for
me personally, in that, this is the kind of achievable actions engaged by our youth which is a
hallmark of their lives well lived! Whereas for me it fulfills my living out the purpose for my
existence on planet earth.
Accountability is my current skill set plus integrity. These involve actualizing struggling young
groups to meet and exceed their aims and complete their career aspirational dream agendas
satisfactorily. The enrollment of these group members who are wanting more engagement and
opportunities in their lives are of particular interest to me. Such that group members are build
up by their colleagues as a whole and together they tackle goals for greater here to fore
unimagined accomplishments. At the same time I aim at encouraging them to keep a keen eye
on future critical facets such as their mental turning wheels that continue non-stop to make
everything happen for the good of the individual youth living in our community.
When I am assigned to work with teams of youth in partnership, I bring to the table a stronger
more powerful planning/organizing facilitation that creates a healthy holistic way of being for
all. I bring great passion and the implementations of various meaningful programs that’s and
incentive needed for aspirations and encouragement of our younger members. What I have
been saying is that there is a heavy duty need to build up and improve personally on our States
of Alaska and CBJ’s younger population. This is, in order that, their awesomely creative
talents can become an enhanced economic contribution to our State and USA economy. The
Juneau School District Board Members have a well thought out set of policies and guideline
ideas to enrich students plus this younger group’s cultural and educational hearts desires.
I feel it is imperative that a team works in consent with the good work that has already been
done and to build upon those efforts so that there is a greater ownership and buy in of a more
qualitative vision for all our citizens. Truly what we do to enhance this population herein
targeted is a direction that is achievable to fulfill on, so that, the hopes and dreams of everyone
created by God Almighty is contributed to more meaningfully. With incentive programs,
members develop a greater sense of self-awareness and self-responsibility that cultivate more
buy in and more of a mind set to get the job done responsibly with outstanding performances
and thus more commendable accomplishments.
My work ethic is strong, I want it to help actualize these worthy youth and assist them to be
proactive in their goals’ settings. I can be counted on to be bold and with a board of directors
bring about a the creation of a brilliantly orchestrated entrepreneurial team of spirited
individual professionals. Our aim and mission will resolutely be disciplined, responsible and
devoted as board of director members in the City and Borough of Juneau.
