Legacy Measurement Solutions – VP Operations Dallas, TX Apr ‘15 – Present

Legacy is Oil and Gas company focusing on engineered measurement, production and process equipment to the oil and natural gas industry from wellhead through midstream and transmission with very stringent quality requirements. Legacy is a portfolio company of private equity firm, White Deer Energy. Responsibility includes 2 plants located in Tyler TX and Brookfield OH.

Right-sized the manufacturing operations by consolidating five sites into two centers of manufacturing excellence that resulted in over 50% improvement in cost structure.

Deployed Operational Excellence (Lean/Six Sigma/ERP) resulting in improvement of 27% in on-time-delivery, 20% in site productivity, and inventory reduction of 47% within the first year.

SPX Flow Industrial – VP Global Operations Charlotte, NC Sep ‘13 – Apr ‘15

SPX Flow Industrial is a $800M business manufacturing pumps, mixers, heat exchangers, air dryers, and other flow equipment. Responsibility includes 13 global plants (2,500 people) supporting engineer/make-to-order products with custom heavy metal fabrication and assembly.

Implemented Manufacturing Excellence Operating System for all the plants that improved on-time-delivery by 25% and created $3.7M gross margin improvement within the first year.

Restructured operations at key sites to improve accountability and agility that created additional benefit of reduced overhead of 15%.

Established Global SAP committee to standardize business processes and system.

DB Thermal, SPX Company – Interim VP Ops Nigel, South Africa Jan ‘12 – Aug ‘12

DB Thermal supports the power generation industry by providing full value chain solutions with products such as boiler components, regenerative air heaters, and feedwater heaters. Acted as interim management to turn around the facility from $40M loss executing projects to supply two of the biggest coal-fired power plants in the world. Facility has 5 shops with over 900 people.

Restructured entire Operations and Operations Support functions

Launch productivity improvement initiative resulting in $85M+ cost avoidance and over $5M cost savings during the first 6 months and averted all liquidated damages.

Executed insourcing strategies to improve overhead absorption

SPX Cooling Technologies – VP Global Ops FAP Overland Park, KS Aug ‘08 – Sep ‘13

Factory Assembled Products (FAP) is $200M organization within SPX Cooling Technologies, market leader of industrial cooling towers. Responsibility included P&L for 6 plants in US, Europe, and Asia with a total of over 1000 direct personnel operating in High-Mix-Low-Volume and High-Mix-High-Volume sheet metal fabrication and assembly.

Made breakthrough value stream improvement by implementing mixed-model assembly line resulting in:

oCycle time reduction from 2 weeks to 1 day

oInventory turns increase from 6 to 14

oProductivity and on-time-delivery improvement by over 30%

oReduced footprint by 35%

Sustained gains and improved performance further year-over-year by deploying Lean-based operating system that included policy deployment (hoshin kanri), daily management, kaizen, as well as manufacturing balanced scorecard.

Developed and enacted Cooling Quality Management System that decreased external cost of quality by 85% per annum ($800k/year) and internal scrap by 2.5% ($500k/year)
