Manufacturing - Cleveland, Ohio (The Lincoln Electric Company) One Consumables Division, two sites in the Cleveland area. Cored Wire, Flux, Electrodes, Quality and Safety were all in SAP MII (aka SAP xmii). As the only developer, architect and deployment expert, this required all tasks and projects to be itemized and prioritized according to leadership. Implemented a quality led process improvement to trace raw materials to finish goods by having the operator collect data at each of their workstations. This allowed leadership to see how a particular heat of steel with certain chemistries perform down the manufacturing process. Statistical Process Control was on every workstation and was the driving factor of this project’s success. Every operator had the ability to see how their process was performing before thinking there might be something wrong with their product. All of the processes were batched managed using SAP MII. Manufacturing - Cleveland, Ohio (The Lincoln Electric Company) Infused in the Quality way of life and created data collection cells and simplistic reporting tools for management. As need expanded and projects were justified, a reporting tool was purchased. SAP MII was the choice (aka SAP xmii, Lighthammer). Here, justification to leadership was won by creating reports using SPC that allowed operators to “tweak” their process because they were notified of potential problems in said process. Leadership required more justification and a tracker on the gui was built to show the before and after using MII. Before, the operator was unable to “tweak” the process and after they were. This allowed a quantitave measure of cost savings for one area. Project description / scope:
