Solution-tek Inc. – CFO (Jul 16 – present)

Solution-tek Inc. is a privately held SaaS company delivering innovative enterprise software solutions for the travel and transportation industry. Our focus is on real time analysis/optimization and our clients include a wide range of the worlds’ top airline companies.

My mandate is to work with the leadership team to deliver on key organizational initiatives and to ensure the financial success of the company. Sometimes that means I develop financial/accounting policies, procedures and systems that are critical for a growing organization. Other times it means developing financial budgets and forecasts for the company or driving company-wide operational efficiencies through a continuous improvement program. But, overall my goal is to free up bandwidth for the President to focus on business development, be his Consigliere, and say "No" when needed.

Typical of many startups, my duties span beyond the title. In any given day, my focus will be split between finance, human resources, facilities, and day-to-day operations of the business. I am accountable for accounting, treasury, FP&A, management reporting and coordinating audits and CRA reviews. I bring forth data and analysis to help with go-to-market decision, and build financial models to assist with raising capital. While I am not a real lawyer, I play the role of in-house council to review contracts, commercial terms and negotiate with procurement. I act as the primary interface for employees and candidates as the de facto head of HR, responsible for recruiting, benefits, and payroll. I also do facilities management, which includes everything from looking at new office space to commissioning a complete renovation of the current space to fit our growing team. Mo Rahman

“Mo is incredibly approachable and makes all team members feel valued. I feel comfortable with Mo to express dissenting opinions and trust that he will not only respect them but consider them with equal weight. Mo maintains this high level of integrity even in difficult and high-pressure situations. Mo's position requires him to render unpopular decisions but is always able to articulate why that decision is necessary, especially when it comes to protecting the company. Mo is always willing to provide the logic behind a decision, which I have found to be incredibly valuable for my own development. It is very apparent that he is equally interested in growing the business and individuals, which I think is an important quality in retaining and attracting great Pivots.” – Pivotal Finance

“Mo was a very important part of the Services team in. He started the year as the Operations and Quality lead for Consulting. In the middle of the year he also took an interim position as the RSD for the East Region and in the latter part of year he took on an expanded role to lead WW Operations and Quality for the Services business. Mo also played a significant role in getting to grips with the root causes of margin challenges we were facing in the Americas consulting business and helped to develop an action plan to address these. On a personal level I very much appreciate Mo's willingness to help out across the business, to roll his sleeves up & to dig into issues we are facing.”
