• Led development of processes, quality requirements and equipment purchases to develop support structure to implement new multi-million-dollar account at Mexico facility working with UTC Aerospace.
• Recruited, trained and developed engineering function to support growth of Mexican commercial aerospace facility to reduce reliance on corporate engineering support to support customers such as Airbus and Boeing.
• Envisioned, designed and led implementation of fully automated leading edge paint line while managing a
$50M budget for one of world’s largest aluminum automotive parts suppliers. Reduced labor costs 50% while increasing output 33% and enabling production of high end products to spur marketability.
• Drove cultural change in lead smelter using lean rules, tools and principles along with introducing automation to increase productivity by 10% and to reduce overtime by 50%.
• Implemented companywide tool use reduction program resulting in 45% reduction in cutting tool costs.
• Developed automated inspection and production reporting system utilizing SPC controls resulting in 33% labor reduction, improved data quality, reduced product variation and machine downtime with 35% less scrap.
• Responsible for product life cycle from conceptualization, through design, customer qualification and initial production, working with General Motors, Ford, and Mazda engineers.
• Developed Industrial Engineering function that had been ignored for years. Determined and documented manufacturing standards, and established IE training initiative that was implemented throughout corporation.
