Quality Control Manager

Manage and schedule the receiving inspection, in-process and final inspection departments to meet the production need in a just in time environment. Manage the supplier quality-engineering staff. I was designated the QDR by Sikorsky Aircraft for the release of products that were produced and or overhauled. Program and perform inspections using the Brown and Sharpe Global CMM using PD-DMIS software. Resolve customer complaints with internal and external root cause analysis. Initiate lean manufacturing principles, 5S and Kaizen techniques, track results of internal and external quality activities and report the results to the president and general manager.

1998 to 2001 Mahle Inc. Cylinder Division Trumbull, Ct

Manufacturing Manager:

Mahle Inc. Cylinder Division is part of a $ 2.5 billion international company with 24,000 employee's word wide that manufactures 2 cycle cylinders used in the portable power industry. Assumed the position in 1998 of a three-shift 120-employee operation with precision machining, Electro-chemical plating, honing operations, plant maintenance and safety that included environmental local and federal regulations. In addition, I was in charge of the production planning/logistics, customer service, process development, design engineering departments, in-process inspection, final inspection, and inventory control and warehouse management. Prepare and submit APQP and PPAP's for customers. Set and maintain an operating budget of $10Million and a capital expenditure budget of $1.5 Million with complete P&L responsibility. Through team building, Kaizen's, 6 S principals and Lean manufacturing coupled with advanced capacity planning I was able to increase our efficiency by 15% and an increase of production volume by 20%

1987 to 1998 Todd Combustion Inc. Shelton, CT.

Manufacturing Manager Burner Group.

Responsible for the entire burner-manufacturing worldwide with a staff of 35 reports. Played a key role in the closing of the Canadian plans and downsizing of the UK facilities. Incorporated the entire burner manufacturing, tooling and equipment into the Shelton Connecticut facility. In this position, I was responsible for Quality, Fabrication, CNC and manual machining of castings composed of bronze, stainless steel, mild steel and aluminum to a tolerance of +/- .0005. Shipping, Receiving, Inventory, Production Control, Mechanical and Electrical Design. I have been able to increase production and quality through the implementation of the Kaizen and 5S principals with organization and smooth product flow by eliminating Non-value added tasks using individual work cells. Increased production volume by 55% with the same amount of employees and increased monthly revenues by 40%.

Quality Assurance Manager: Maintain a quality system/manual in the manufacturing of Low NOx burners at both the Shelton Connecticut and Montreal Canada plants. Standardize the QA system for both facilities to comply with the requirements of MIL-I-45208 and ISO9000. Managed all inspection for the Navy and Government source inspections. Maintain a calibration system in the computer database.

Generate monthly quality reports pertaining to overall company performance with visual graphs, monitor and evaluate warranty charges and Review, investigate and report the performance of the operations team, which consists of Quality, Purchasing, Engineering and Manufacturing financial performance with the generation of visual aids. Conduct sub-contractors/supplier quality audits, generate and maintained programs for the Brown & Sharp Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).

Perform inspections of manufactured parts including machined parts, welded assemblies; generate welding and machining procedures and maintaining welder performance qualifications for welders to comply with the requirements of ASME Section IX, and MIL-STD-248D.

Assist in the electrical check out of package burners before shipping. Oversee and coordinate the process of ISO9001 compliance and registration.
