PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Product Design Engineer (YMDP) at Cummins Turbo Technologies August 2014 - June 2015

Reverse engineered turbine housing with three scanned cavities by using Geomagic, compared them with available parts in Cummins catalogue and proposed the best match.

Carried out DOE for overall space constraints on a two stage turbocharger to get minimal heating effects on pipeline and ducts by varying there sizes. Also, Identified tilt angle capacity of bearing housing for continuous flow of lubricating oil for Daimler engine project.

Added turbine wheel profile to parametric model using Creo. Conducted cross-functional meetings and carried out DVP&R for production phase release of the wheel and shaft assembly.

High priority customer support assignment which required providing prompt assistance such as STL models and assemblies for additive manufacturing, changed casting model features of compressor housing to check manufacturability.

Other assignments include creation of 3D models/drawings of components, assemblies by applying GD&T and stack-up sheets and finalizing BOM. Executed DVA and DFMEA of components of turbocharger.

Intern at Cummins Research and Technology India May 2013 - June 2013

Studied engine components, process of work flow for design of components and Cummins standards.

Developed a hand calculation tool for validation of designed components of engine.

Went through engine tear down training.

Design Lead for SAE India BAJA team July 2012 - February 2014

Designed chassis for an All-Terrain Vehicle using SolidWorks and built a prototype to check driver’s safety as per standards before manufacturing. Implemented FEA tools for crash test on the chassis to check safety of the chassis after the load has been applied. Maintenance and repair of the braking, suspension, and drive-train systems.

LEADERSHIP & ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE

Additive Manufacturing Project February 2017 – May 2017

Designed an air-less tire by integrating the hub, spokes and tire using SolidWorks. 3D printed it using FDM to reduce manufacturing time. From further analysis it was concluded that this method also helped to reduce the wastage.

Undergrad Project August 2013 – May 2014

Designed and manufactured a three jaw hydraulically operated power chuck for a wide clamping range. After multiple iterations optimal design was concluded at 22deg wedge angle and 11.5mm of overhang of jaws, was found to have minimum loss of gripping force when the speed changes while rotating.
