GOAL

My goal is to continue being an integral laboratory scientist and team player by combining my laboratory skills, drug discovery experience, and analytical instrumentation and automation abilities to further advance projects and programs while supporting staff and equipment.

SUMMARY

Energetic, team oriented Research Scientist with 12 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry working towards drug discovery. Performed multi step, parallel, and high throughput organic synthesis in support of medicinal chemistry, biological screening, and DMPK assays. Worked within Analytical groups, and with Biology and DMPK departments to identify drug metabolites, improving compound bioavailability, and providing key analogs for toxicity studies. Key strengths include analytical instrumentation and automation, synthetic organic synthesis, compound purification, compound identification, robotics, automation, problem solving, and safety. Compound purification via flash, automated flash, TLC, HPLC, and LCMS Prep; and qualitative work via NMR, FTIR, LCMS, and elemental analysis. Extensive instrumentation experience with multichannel liquid handling robots, automated chemical reactors, automated flash chromatography, robotic weighing instrumentation, and custom robotics engineering, modifications, and implementations. Emergency coordinator, emergency responder, and safety officer. Laboratory manager, logistical coordinator, equipment negotiations, and supervisor. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Synthesized and submitted over 50K compounds via solid phase combinatorial libraries for internal and external SAR work.

Independently researched, optimized, and performed practical synthetic organic chemical routes for CNS stroke and neuropathic pain programs, cholesterol reduction, and inflammation projects.

Worked with Biology groups to review and improve SAR data for (in vivo) and (in vitro) screening assays.

Assisted DMPK groups to improve bioavailability of selected lead compounds, and to also study phase 1 metabolites and phase 2 conjugation analogs for toxicity studies via SAR directed compound submissions.

Identification of metabolites via a combination of analytical methodology and medicinal chemistry background.

Analytical work done with NMR, HPLC, LCMS, TLC, and Elemental Analysis.

Assisted the analytical chemistry department to characterize compounds and optimize purifications.

Helped maintain IR, LCMS, NMR, and HPLC equipment as a super user and maintenance representative.

Synthesized lead compounds in gram quantity to benchmark biological assays.

Resourcefully purified compound libraries via HPLC, Automated Agilent LCMS, Isco 16 channel, and automated TLC.

Composed unique robotic protocols for laboratory automation in liquid handling robots.

Expert in automation for chemistry department through utilization, purchasing, maintenance, and training.

Performed custom engineering of robotics and equipment, and outsourced custom equipment designs. AWARDS AND HONORS
