VOLUNTEER
July 2012 – Present
Volunteer engagements, Chicago, IL
Co-Founder, Volunteer
The Uplift Alliance
The Uplift Alliance is a concept currently in design and development. The concept involves working with charitable organizations to provide a path from need to self-sufficiency. The starting point is an intake model that identifies the obstacles preventing individual aid recipients from moving towards self-sufficiency. After testing, the next step will be to engage in partnerships and build relationships within the community or without to provide for those needs. This is a part-time volunteer-driven side project.
My efforts have focused primarily upon developing the intake model and in developing relationships with charitable organizations and potential service providers which may be good candidates for testing or for pilot implementations. Additionally, I function as the strategy officer assuring that activities performed on behalf of the organization comply with the strategic direction. In that role, I lead the business architecture and business analysis work.
This began with discussions in October of 2013. I decided to take some time following the end of my lprevious consulting engagement to focus some time on this effort as I was not satisfied with the progress.
Co-Founder, Volunteer –
The Never Ending Rummage Sale
The Never Ending Rummage Sale is a retail, auction, and ecommerce concept currently in design and development to provide charitable organizations an ongoing means of raising revenue by providing a means to sell donated items on consignment as they come in rather than storing them and waiting for a periodic fundraising event. The vision is that donated items would be earmarked for particular charities by the donor and would then go through a sales cycle starting with retail and then ecommerce and failing that, auction. This is a part-time volunteer-driven side project.
My efforts have drawn upon my retail and ecommerce experience to develop speculative business processes and operational governance models and to develop funding models.
This began with discussions in January of 2014
Consultant, Advisor –
Center for Gerontological Research
The Center for Gerontological Research is a concept currently in design and development started by oncologists and gastroenterologists to study disease, conditions, and treatments related to aging with the objectives of greater health and productivity and less need for healthcare services. The development of this project has slowed because it is currently privately funded. This is a part-time side project.
My efforts have consisted primarily with clarifying strategy, developing speculative business processes and operational governance models, and drawing upon my experience as an association executive to provide insight and guidance.
This is not strictly a volunteer engagement. However, participation at this time is quarterly meetings with a small group of oncologists, gastroenterologists, and geriatric care professionals. I became involved in July of 2012 to develop business processes and business architecture.
Volunteer –
Mobile Street Medicine Clinics
The Mobile Street Medicine Clinics is a concept currently in design and development to customize recreational vehicles and trailers into portable medical facilities that can be taken to places like food pantries, soup kitchens, and emergency shelters to provide for basic health care needs and physical examinations. This is a part-time volunteer-driven side project.
My efforts to this point have been to provide guidance drawing on my not-for-profit experience.
This effort began in May of 2016 and is still in its earliest stages.
