SAMPLE OF TECHNICAL PROJECTS INITIATED AND SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
Initiated, developed and led corporate IT operational systems strategy by working seamlessly with cross-functional counterparts and operations team members to re-architect messaging and attachment database application sub-systems from Enterprise hardware/software (i.e. EMC, Hitachi, Sybase, Informix, HP, SUN, SGI, Data Storage) to file-system running on commodity hardware/software (i.e. Red Hat Linux, Reiser FS, MYSQL, DELL). I presented recommendations from the team to company executives and got approval for a 6-month benchmarking period and up to 2 years for full implementation. The new strategy and procedures reduced costs $65 Million annually.
Drove a process improvement team working on maximizing disk capacity and minimizing disk I/O and rebuilt 2k page size email application to 4k size after much research and brainstorming that decreased message complex by 2/3 and saved $50 Million annually in software, hardware and network components. This project was benchmarked for 3 months and then took 12 months to implement.
Implemented a LINUX memory farm storing a copy of screen names in resident memory and placed the LINUX memory farm at the gateway into the AOL network that immediately eliminated the network latency and hotspots. This effort was in response to the tremendous increase in email accounts. It was discovered that each time an email user would login to check their mail folder, the application had to touch the database of record to validate the screen name credentials causing network latency and hotspot on disks during peak periods. The new memory farm fixed this situation.
