Director, Global Logistics & Customs Compliance
Talbots Import, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Talbots Inc. Served as Vice President and Compliance Officer of TI, LLC, in compliance with 19CFR. Directed, led and conducted Talbots Import LLC Customs business in the US and Canada and provided all aspects of international trade including: security, compliance, logistics, FTZ operations, and statistical analysis and reporting for an omni-channel specialty retailer of apparel, footwear and accessories.
Ensured cost effective, efficient flow of legitimate trade valued at approx. $1.3 billion into the hands of consumers.
Developed and fully implemented a foreign trade zone operation and a self- filing customs program of type 01, 02 and 06 entries.
Hired and developed a team that possessed a culture motivated to exceed expectations and partner with providers that innovate and create methods of operating that can be realistically deployed to reduce expense and shorten inventory & procurement cycles.
Committee member for key initiatives; Audit, Holiday Hindsight, FSFE, FTZ, Cross Dock that resulted in overall process & policy improvements, system upgrades and ROI exceeding plans.
Managed budget +$140million primarily International & Domestic Freight and Duty.
Led & conducted service provider RFP/RFQ. Negotiated & executed contracts for ocean, air, courier & LTL/TL services. Annual freight spend of +$90million and realized savings of over $20million with a sharp eye and focus on finding continuous supply chain process improvements.
Engaged in relationship management of facilities, government agencies, legal partners, consultants & trade groups.
Implemented and led all trade related programs including, C-TPAT Tier III, FTA’s, FTZ, FSFE, ISF, OGA’s. Managed teams that supported the flow of legitimate trade including; compliance, HTS classifications, drawback & claim recovery, all import/export activity including QBR’s, KPI’s plus statistical reporting on $50million annual duty.
As a member company of the private equity Sycamore portfolio and subject matter expert in the field of import/export compliance &logistics provided consulting as needed with Jones Apparel, Belks, Hot Topic and others. Contracted to re-launch the Coldwater Creek brand shortly after it was acquired in 2014 to provide all aspects of supply chain logistics and compliance. The brand realized 50% growth year over year and transitioned to independent operations.
