IB Economics – Responsible for successful teaching of the IB Economics syllabus. This covers not only mastery of the content, but of the skills necessary in writing and calculating in order to score high marks on the IB exam. This is a two-year course of study.
Inquiry based learning – Tim Carr, Head of School co taught Development Economics with me as we integrated inquiry based learning into the IB curriculum. It was successful, and student achievement increased, as measured by the IB exam scores from prior years.
Technology – JIS is a one-one school with the MacBook Air. As such, technology is integrated into learning and teaching in my classroom. I have made extensive use of Evernote as a platform for eportfolios, as well as a digital format for course management. Technology is integral to my job as a teacher, and I am constantly learning new software.
TOK - Responsible for teaching Grade 12 TOK – the focus of this course is on the IB assessments of both the presentation and the essay. Creative lessons designed to inspire great writing.
Social Entrepreneurship - Curriculum Developer and Writer: Writing and developing the content and curriculum for the course, Social Entrepreneurship. The course teaches students to plan and execute socially responsible enterprises. It is the most inspiring work I have done, ever. Students projects include: building an online dictionary for the Indonesian deaf community, creating a campaign for diabetes awareness in Jakarta, and assisting 100 Indonesian students to afford the expenses of attending school.
Curriculum Writing Team: 10th grade course. Developed, along with a team of three other teachers, the curriculum for a new Grade 10 Social Studies course..
Presenter: Dunia Conference. Presenting to colleagues on the beauty of Evernote, and a second workshop on the Conscious Educator (using mindfulness in the classroom, not teaching it, but applying it through teaching.)
Investment Club: worked with students to develop and implement this popular club. The club teaches students about investments and students participate in online virtual trading, a REAL online stock account with REAL money, and microlending with REAL money. This year we have been invited by the Wharton School of Business to participate in an investment competition with high schoolers globally to compete in portfolio development. In addition, the club does microlending and one of our loans gave a group of women who live on a trash dump the ability to create a sustainable living making gift cards and paper out of recycled paper.
Additional responsibilities: Extended Essay supervisor, Faculty Adviser for Student Council, Writing 25+ letters of recommendation for students to universities for their college applications each fall, as well as supporting students with their college applications.

Teacher: IB Economics and Theory of Knowledge
Responsible for instilling a quality-learning environment and teaching the content
of the IB syllabus for each course. IB Economics requires a great attention to
teaching details of diagrams, math content, writing style and a focus on economic
analysis, especially of current events. IB Theory of Knowledge allows freedom of
content teaching within a core context of required elements. As a discussion based
class dealing with controversial topics and explorations, this class requires quick
thinking, organized flexibility, and a sense of humor.
Additional responsibilities: Service learning and CAS supervisor, Extended Essay
supervisor, Politics Club supervisor, and supervisor of a a very active Investment
Club. This club was established in 2010 when I joined ISB and has grown to be
one of the most popular clubs on campus. Students invest in a virtual stock market
game, as well as investing real money in the actual market.

Responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships as they result
in and from investment advice and implementation. This requires knowledge of
client goals and appropriate investment selection and asset allocation. Special
area of interests were green investing, socially responsible investing, and how
these relate to the topic of climate change, as well as investing for women.
Planned and executed many client events which focused on some topic of
education; especially, effectively brought a major Citibank analyst to guest
speak at an event attended by 250 clients and potential clients, which focused
on the investment themes of climate change, water worries and change in the US Administration.

Utilized various forms of teaching methods and regularly integrated creative use

Model UN Coach: responsible for preparing teams of students to attend competitions in which the students represented a country by participating in
speech making, caucusing, debate and knowledge of the United Nation’s
