Procurement pertaining to materials planning, plant scheduling, forecasting and incoming transportation (rail and truck) for materials used in production, management of fill rate / service levels, and liaison between Sales & Customer Service.
Implemented a daily shortage material meeting has proactively identified material shortages that have caused impacts to production. This has resulted in a 95% reduction of material shortages. In parallel, metrics have been developed; defining root causes of shorts triggering corrective actions to be implemented.
Established new scheduling practice triggering scheduling of a current week +1 allowing timely material and resource planning for factory to occur, followed by a weekly scheduling buy-off meeting with Operation Department stakeholders. A reduction of material shortages and a drop of 25% in expedited freight costs for inbound raw and packaging materials gained.
Improvement in fill rate by 1.5 points realized within the first twelve months by the Site adopting a new and enhanced means of scheduling and material management practices.
