Miyoshi America, Inc. (US COSMETICS CORPORATION) – Dayville, Connecticut 11/2013-7/2016

IT Lead/Supervisor – Managed a full time staff of one, as well as six contractors on long-term agreements with the company, and compliance staff. Provided a full range of Information Technology Services for the employees at the three Dayville locations. Indirectly supported employees at our Japanese parent company and European division when needed. Maintained relationships with key technology partners, including a major managed services firm, an ERP integration team and providers of document management/training management software.

System Administration – For 150 users in 5 locations (also robotics and ADC’s in factories) administered 12 Virtual Windows Servers on VMWARE vSphere 5.5 running on 2 HP ESXi hosts. 18 TB of distributed storage on HP StorageWorks P2000 SAN. Updated workstations and endpoints using SCCM / WSUS. Implemented home directories, strong passwords, password aging and password history using Group Policy. Windows Server 2008 R2 and 2012 Standard and Enterprise. SQL Server 2008 R2. Office 2013 and Office 365. ERP: Sage X3. Document Management: Paradigm P3 FDA-compliant system. Implement laptop and device encryption and SHOPHOS threat management.

Network Administration – Implemented cloud-based multi-level backups, home directories, data security, group policy and network best practices for the Miyoshi network of 100+ nodes, including PC’s, MAC’s, ADM Handheld Computers, Bar Code and robotics equipment. Documented all parts of the network for future endeavors. Created Disaster Recovery Site and an IT disaster plan for the business. Implemented recovery site in remote plant. Troubleshoot installed switches by Cisco, Extreme, and HP/3COM. Firewall: Barracuda, Sonic Wall, Palo Alto.

Special Projects – Top-down remediated Operational and Performance (OQ/ PQ) validation of windows computers and the X3 ERP system to bring the system into compliance with FDA 21CFR Part 11 and other data security mandates. Implementations of up to 500 units MAC or PC either manually or from image. Replaced computers in the QC and R&D labs driving analysis instruments including Mass Spectrometers, Electron Microscopes, Molecular and Particle analyzers, to bring labs into GLP/GMP compliance. Worked on team to automate warehouse and production with ADC units, bar-coding and robotic picking.

UC Davis Health System – Sacramento, California 6/2006-12/2013

Information Systems Supervisor, (CRS2)

Worked with multi-disciplinary research teams composed of Physicians, Nurses, Scientists, and qualitative and quantitative researchers. Supported a total of 150 staff and faculty, including Physicians and scientists, in multiple locations. Lead contact between local Computer Support Coordinators and the centralized UCDHS IT Division at the Medical Center. Instrumental in facilitating buy-in for centralized IT mandates by local support units.

UC Davis Health Systems, Continued:

Facility Implementation - Set up two clinical research centers, including laboratories for up to 50 researchers and office staff each. Set up numerous small satellite offices in areas hospitals, colleges and clinics.

Information Security Protocols Implementation – Implemented security protocols for all servers and computer systems with a goal of full HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Introduced strong passwords, physically secured computer systems and secure data transfer and data encryption for all workstations and laptops. On project team for system-wide implementation of DELL/CREDANT and SOPHOS threat management systems.

Leveraging Technology – Developed IT strategies, including personnel, hardware and software requirements for multi-year interdisciplinary longitudinal and latitudinal clinical studies.

Project Team Lead – Played a leading role on an interdisciplinary project team to bring data encryption and secure file transfer to FIPS 140-2 compliance. Co-lead team to bring both supported centers into a secured NAT-based network for additional data security. Serve as Data Custodian securing large Federal datasets containing Personal Health Information of patients throughout the country.

Collaboration – Effectively built collaboration with three different IT departments to ensure system interoperability and project accountability. Key member of project team tasked with consolidating this network, server and application support within the UC Davis Health System IT Division.

New Technology – Co-developed tablet based, biometrically secured systems for beside data collection and enrollment of in-patient research subjects.

Active academic /research department serving over 700 students, 38 faculty, 12 staff and 80 graduate students at this “Research 1” university. Implemented security protocols for all servers and computer systems with a goal of full HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Managed technology for quantitative and qualitative research, with software such as SPSS, SAS, STATA, ATLAS, TreeAge, HyperResearch and others to process large population datasets. Took department from an unsecured network served off a converted desktop computer in 2000, to a fully secured Windows Server Active Directory environment on a 4-server cluster in 2005.
