Job and responsibility of a nurse in Operation Room:-

• Receiving patients to the OT.

• Identify the patient & giving Psychological support to the patient.

• Check for the reports and consent

• Explain the procedure to the patient.

• Check for any ornaments, dentures etc.

• Check for the pre-medication

• Check for appropriate skin preparation

• Help the patient to wear the sterile dress Scrub Nurse

• Check the patients identify and the procedure.

• Collection of Equipments and linen for operation planed

• Scrubbing, gowning and gloving, Keep the field sterile

• Preparation of trolley and draping the patients with sterile Drapes

• Keeping an accurate count of instruments, swabs, sponges and needles during operation

• Inform the surgeon that the counts are correct before closing counts should be taken thrice

• Ensure that the circulatory nurse checks it, anticipating the needs of surgeons.

Circulatory Nurse DUTIES:-

• Checking the cleanliness of the theatre.

• Confirm that light, suction and diathermy, equipments are in working condition.

• Collecting the necessary Equipments and stocks.

• Checking the patient with all reports and sees whether the patient has got all pre- operative care.

• Explain the procedure to the patient and take the patient to the table and assisting in positioning.

• Assist the scrub nurse during glowing and gowning and during the trolley preparation.

• Witness the instruments, sponge and records, being available in the theatre.

• Connecting diathermy and suction tubes.

• Anticipating the requirements of the surgical team.

• Assist for shifting and handling over the reports and maintains the records.
