Metro IT Director, Pomona Metro 2009 – 2016
Responsible for overall leadership, strategy and direction, including planning, budgeting, vendor relation, procurement of technology, communication, prioritizing of projects and implementation of IT projects for 3 Pomona Metro locations and Carrington College site with total 10 staff and $2M operation budget. Served as a senior cabinet member of the Pomona Metro locations.
Managed the IT Help Desk supporting Students, Faculty and Staff Technology needs, maintenance of labs, including Computer Labs, Veterinary Lab, Dental Hygiene Lab, and Simulation Labs with total 800 Nodes.
Served as Technology Project Manager for the Pomona Campus $15M Remodeling project. The project was completed on time and 1M under budget.
Project Manager for the Carrington Colleges California Co-Location into the Pomona Building $5M project. This project was completed successfully within time and budget parameters.
National IT Director, West Region 2006 – 2009
Served as National IT Director for the West Region from California to Alberta, Canada. Responsible for overall leadership and technology-directions for 26 locations, 75 staff. As direct report to the CIO of DeVry Inc. managed IT operations / infrastructure, capital and operational budget for the west region.
Responsible for identifying and implementing strategies to improve efficiency, increase resource sharing, reduce cost of operation, reduce redundancy and assure consistency and continuity of IT services for the region and for the University over all operation.
Supervised a global team of 7 senior managers as direct reports and a team of approximately 75 staff at all locations. Provided technology vision that enables innovation, and understands the technology trends that can create business value.
Supported the selection and customization of a multimillion-dollar Student Life Cycle Application with Modular services for Student Finance, Carrier Services, Admission, HR and Academic departments.
Dean of Information Technology 1999 – 2006
Responsible for the day to day IT operation of 9 Southern California Locations in Pomona, Long Beach, San Diego, Sherman Oaks, Anaheim, Irvine, Colton, Alhambra and Palmdale. Responsibility included planning, organizing, budgeting, staffing, staff retention, coaching, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of WAN, LAN, Video Conferences, PBX and VoIP phone systems. Total 20 fulltime staff and 60 part-time employees.
As Project Manager, planned, designed, and managed the initial technology-setup of a new DeVry University Centers in Colton, Anaheim, Alhambra, Palmdale, and Henderson, managed the expansion and technology-setup of DeVry University in San Diego and responsible for the initial technology-setup of the DeVry University West Hills Campus and later relocation from West Hills to Sherman Oaks location.
As Chair of the technology steering committee for the Southern California campuses, provided leadership, direction and technology strategies in defining the technology environment for the future of the campuses.
As IT leader supported the development and ongoing maintenance and modification of Application including Student Life Cycle, Point of Sale, and Student Health and Parking Permit.
