EXPERIENCE:
December 2016 to present: Contract Transcriptionist for Datascribe, Inc., currently
transcribing recorded insurance statements.
October 2014 to present: Contract Transcriptionist for Net Transcripts, currently
transcribe law enforcement interviews, court hearings and miscellaneous legal
transcription work.
August 2, 1999 to present: Recording Secretary for the City of Overland Park,
Kansas, within the Finance, Administration and Budget Department, with the
following responsibilities:
Attend and report evening meetings for City Council, Public Safety, Pension Plan, Finance, Planning Commission, and Community Development meetings through the use of an official court recording system and by stenographic notes.
Provide verbatim transcripts and summarize meetings into minutes for official public record. (Typing Speed of 80 to 85 words per minute)
Respond to meeting information requests by the Governing Body, city staff and the public.
Assist and maintain development of the standard operation procedures for the Recording Secretary position.
Telecommute most work from home, and report to the City Council, City Clerk, and Assistant City Clerk.
November 30, 1998 to August 2, 1999: Legal Assistant for the firm of Wells &
Alvarez.
Legal assistant in a workers’ compensation law firm.
Maintained legal files, legal transcription, and client contact and intake.
Maintained calendars for two attorneys, setting up settlement conferences, and hearings.
Organized client files, billing records, and sorting and responding to mail.
April 1997 to April 1999: Alternate Court Reporter for the Jackson County
Courthouse.
Responded to standby requests to fill in for the Official Court Reporters in various divisions including Probate, Civil, Juvenile and Criminal.
Transcribed court transcripts upon request; stenographic speed of 180 to 200 words per minute.
