Owner

Own and operate a computer programming consultancy. I help small business realize their goals – using the latest tools and techniques available. Projects completed include:

• Advanced Cloud System Sync – Client uses multiple cloud-based solutions for online store (BigCommerce & Amazon), CRM (InfusionSoft) and other needs. They wanted to synchronize these with their on-premise ERP/Accounting system. Created a .NET-based sync system which included a plug-in architecture. This enables the client to add new sync modules as they grow into newer more advanced online systems.

• Powerline Surveys – Enhanced client’s existing .Net-based powerline survey application so that it supported synchronization with a master copy of the database in the cloud

(Microsoft Azure). It supported 100+ occasionally-connected clients and allowed them to sync whenever they were network connected.

• Greenhouse Automation – Designed and implemented a graphical interface and database to control greenhouse automation. The application is near real-time and makes extensive use of a SQL Server database. It is architected with Microsoft’s latest entity-framework data access technology, which reduced the implementation time significantly. The application comprises a report viewer, a controller dashboard, and a monitor service. Technologies used include: Visual Basic .NET, SQL Server 2008, Microsoft Reporting.

• Production Control System – Architected and designed a production control system for one of the country’s largest billboard production shops. The system was developed entirely in Visual Basic and ASP .Net. It is a multi-tier application, hosted on Microsoft SQL Server, with business logic contained in a central DLL.

• Stock Trading System – Designed and developed a stock trading system which used historical and pre-calculated data from an Oracle database, in concert with a real-time stock tick feed to make trading recommendations. Technologies used include: Visual Basic and Oracle 8i.

• SmartGolf – Designed and developed a golf tracking system that allowed golfers to grade each stroke of their golf game and analyze their performance. The program also continuously calculated their USGA handicap. The program was sold nationally through CompUSA. Technologies used include: Visual Basic.

• Aircraft Maintenance Tracker – Designed and developed a system to track maintenance records and FAA airworthiness requirements for commercial aircraft. The program was implemented in Clipper. It is still in use today by several public service agencies including the Los Angeles County Sheriff, and Orange County Sheriff. Technologies used include: Clipper.

July 2005 to Present WhiteWave Foods Company, Broomfield CO Senior Software Architect

Transforming the company’s intranet and online storage technologies to Microsoft SharePoint and Office 365 cloud-based technology. Developed custom SharePoint applications to leverage SharePoint features for Legal and Tax teams. Integrate custom .Net solutions – using CSOM API to manipulate SharePoint directly. Currently working with SharePoint Framework utilizing Javascript, JQuery, Microsoft Office UI Fabric and React. Extensive data migration from numerous formats to SharePoint. Some migrations were done with custom .NET applications, others used off-the-shelf software.

Developed numerous internal database applications. Projects include Dairy Producer Management, Milk Testing, Company intranet all developed in ASP.NET, SQL Server utilizing stored procedures and discrete data layers. All ASP .NET applications are written using strongly-typed datasets, and conform to all current Microsoft development patterns. Most solutions included secure web service layers – both SOAP-based and some more modern REST-based.

Also enhanced company SAP application to include bank interfacing. Code was written in object-oriented ABAP.

Responsible for architecture SAP Portal implementation, interfacing SAP business warehouse with SQL server data. This requires extensive web services work. February 2002 – July 2005, Carrier Access Corporation, Boulder CO Senior Software Engineer
