DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports to the site EHS Officer on all matters related to lifting operations carried out by lifting equipment

Liaising with the Construction Manager and other supervisory staff for managing lifting operations.

Monitoring and ensuring safe lifts by :

Observing the correct SWL

Ensuring the presence and competency of all persons involved in lifting

Process(operator, rigger, signaller)

Observing Load Charts in cranes

Observing the crane inspection checklist prepared daily by the crane operator.

Monitoring suitable communications and signalling between all persons involved

in the lift.

Conduct pre-lift briefings in particular “high risk.”

Carrying out additional checks on crane and lifting gear in case of heavy and unusual lifts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1)Access and logistics for all lifting equipment to and from site

2)Ensuring a crane of suitable capacity to perform the operation including the size and type of crane, its duties and outrigger settings and loadings, the radius at which it will work and boom length as well as

3)Selecting the appropriate lifting accessories, including chains, slings, lifting beams, spreads, lifting eyes etc… taking account of the load – weight and dimensions, lift points, sharp edges as well as determining the method of attaching the load of the crane (the slinging technique)

4)Ensuring that the crane and lifting equipment has current test certification and has no obvious defects and that equipment, accessories and personnel involved is trained and competent and has been properly briefed as well as holding up to date and relevant certification.

5)Preparation of lifting plans, risk assessments and method statements himself, and that the lift is carried out in accordance with these
