Electrician
I started working at the hospital as a maintenance technician for about a year. My responsibilities were keeping inventory of, and ordering of light bulbs, nurse call parts, machinery hardware, and general maintenance supplies. My maintenance duties were bulb and ballast replacement, repairing nurse call components, mounting items for medical staff, and minor plumbing, electrical, and A/C repairs.
After a year I was promoted to Electrician where my responsibilities were the maintenance and repairs of electrical systems, generators, pneumatic tube system, UPS backup systems, fire alarms system, and switchgear. I inventoried and ordered all material for projects and maintained stock items in electrical shop. I performed preventative maintenance on equipment as well as keeping records up to date for Joint Commissions. I was co-leader of the HERT (hospital emergency response team) with George Haley. Assisted in fire drills. Worked alongside HVAC techs and Plumbers where I have gained experience in all aspects of the facility. During hurricane disaster drill I was communication officer in incident command post.
