SENIOR CAPSTONE DESIGN PROJECT
GUI-Based Optic Disc and Cup Characterization from Fundus Images September 2016 – Present
Created a graphical user interface with adjustable parameters to characterize the optic disc and the optic cup of the human eye to aid in the detection of glaucoma and other optical diseases.
Individual responsibilities included coding to normalize each photo by making a gray scale version of it from its green channel component, coding to detect the edges of the optic cup and the optic disc using radial lines and max derivatives of light intensities, and coding to create the graphical user interface to run the detection algorithm.
COURSE PROJECTS
Adaptive Computer Simulation of the Sinoatrial Node Using Hodgkin-Huxley Model September 2015 – December 2015
Simulated the membrane potential of a rabbit sinoatrial node using the Hodgkin-Huxley squid giant axon model in Matlab to observe how the concentrations of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine impact the membrane potential.
Design of an Electrocardiogram January 2016 – April 2016
Designed and implemented the hardware and software components necessary to construct a working ECG machine with several other functions built into it.
Medical Image Processing Program September 2016 – December 2016
Designed and implemented a graphical user interface (GUI) for an image processing program in C++ and Matlab to quantify the area and perimeters of the different regions of an image.
Control of Robotic Arm with Brain Computer Interface (BCI) January 2017 – Present
Collected and used recorded electrical signals of the brain to create and run a program that would simulate the movements of a robotic arm.
