Other Experience

University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), Chicago, IL (2015–17)

Student Manager – Sports and Fitness Center 2016–17

Desk Attendant Fitness Attendant – Sports and Fitness Center 2015–17

Thesis

Don Parthiban. D, BharathRaj, S., and Darshan, M. (2015). CAE analysis of heat affected zone in powder-mixed electric discharge machining (PM-EDM). (Thesis). Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology (SKCET), Coimbatore, India.

Completed a computer-aided engineering (CAE) analysis on the material INCONEL 718, which was subjected to EDM process with graphite powder suspended in the electrolyte to achieve better results.

Employed Response Surface Methodology (RSM) through DesignExpert 12.0 software to design the experiments by varying 4 process factors.

Collaborated with two peers in assessing and performing experiments at COINDIA industrial centers to determine the material removal rate (MRR) and tool wear rate (TWR).

Performed analysis of variance (ANOVA), including backward regression to determine the significance of the process factors on the results.

Formulated a mathematical model by utilizing FEA technique to present three distinct results, such as minimum TWR, maximum MRR, and optimal solution.

Accomplished Projects

Title of Project: Dynamic Analysis of a Single-arm Windshield Wiper Mechanism

Date: 2016

Selected a wiper blade on a windshield system with a motor arm and connecting link, while designing a model in NX CAD software and obtaining parameters such as moment of inertia (MoI) and mass.

Created a code to identify angular position, acceleration, and velocity on various instances.

Developed and solved equations of motions with constraint conditions through the Runge-Kutta method.

Title of Project: Finite Element Analysis of a Single-state Speed Reduction Spur Gearbox

Date: 2015

Demonstrated expertise of finite element method (FEM) to assess the contact surface of the gear tooth in a spur gear set.

Identified the stress on the gear after applying several factors, which reached full stress on the edges of the line of contact on the gear tooth.

Title of Project: Design and Fabrication of Semi-automated Optical Sortation System

Date: 2014

Introduced optical sorting systems to enhance manual work stations with human labor; and increase precision.
