Pfizer Pharmaceutical Contract (2016 - 6/2017)

R&D Project involving a Visual Inspection/Rejection System for five (5) rooms within a pharmaceutical aseptic area of a Pfizer Plant.

Calculated process contact area and developed validation documents for WIP/CIP/SIP requirements for a pharmaceutical aseptic room of a Pfizer Plant.

Certified Validation and QA training under existing ISOtrain Program. Remained current on proper procedures by reviewing current, revised, and new SOP’s relating to the job and to the department.

Authored and executed protocols: installation qualification (IQ), operational qualification (OQ), performance qualification (PQ), interim reports, and final reports from executed protocols and commissioning. Evaluated and recommended new equipment and processes for new and reformulated products. Wrote and revised batch records, bill of materials, specifications. Prepared and revised standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Designed and Managed Construction of a Dairy Plant. Completely modeled using Aspen HYSYS.

Implemented, executed and promoted food safety for client products using Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Security Measures, Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP), quality evaluation procedures, regulatory, environmental, safety and health guidelines and regulations.

Supervising quality control and ensuring compliance with the Food and Drug Administration regulations.

Additional Projects w/SSI (2012 – 2015)

Managed SSI Wichita Office and support local clients in process design, piping, instrumentation and controls within the Pharmaceutical, Food/Beverage, Chemical, Power and Refinery Industries.

Developed and constructed a reactor to convert underground well gases into a Methanol/Ethanol/Formaldehyde/ Water mixture and a Pressure Swing Distillation unit for GasTechno. The Unit produced 98% Methanol Blend, 180P Ethanol, and 37% Formaldehyde/Water mixture.

Designed and Construction of a Flare Gas Recovery (FGR) Unit for an Ethanol Plant.

Project managed the implementation of OSI Pi at the CVR Refinery.

Expansion Project with Calumet San Antonio Diesel/Oil Process and Montana Tank Farm.

Spec’ed Instrumentation/Controls for Calumet San Antonio Refinery.

Developed TIMET’s feed system for Chlorinators within the Rutile/Carbon Bed and chlorine recovery process.

Designed Gas Turbine/Steam Generation Process for a 50 MGPY Ethanol Plants. Managed Project into operation.

Involved in Emission Calculations and Process Turnarounds for Koch Nitrogen Plants in Enid OK, Dodge City KS, Beatrice NE and Fort Dodge IA.

Developed scope of work for Oil Refineries and Chemical Plants.

R&D Project involving a Wastewater Treatment System for a Westar Power Plant. Designed and Project Managed the process improvements.

SR PROCESS AND CONTROLS ENGINEER – DAIRY WASTE SOLUTIONS (DWS) 2011-2012

Developed Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for conversion of waste into fuel products for clients in the Biodiesel Industry. Included sizing of piping, pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, distillation columns, agitators, conveyors, filters, instrumentation and controls.

Developed plant wide process models, implement on-line, open-loop application that optimizes utilities usage, and provided the most optimal operation modes. Involved in the installation and start-up phases of these plants.

DWS’s project responsibilities ranged from five (5) to ten (10) million dollars per job.

Involved with project and support related automation tasks involving PLCs and HMIs, including both hardware and software aspects, from conception through execution, operation and turn over.

SR PROCESS AND SALES ENGINEER – SPINTEK FILTRATRATION, INC 2009-2011

Managed more than 20 start-up and commission crew for the Goro Nickel/Cobalt Plant. Included complete process, instrumentation and controls design.

Involved in the installation, commissioning and startup of the CODELCO copper mine plant in Chile S.A.

Designed the process for Sulfur Removal from Fuels/Oil.

Engineer designs for new and retrofit processes in mining applications.

Provide consulting services, and commission and start-up assistances.

SR PROCESS ENGINEER – ICM 2007-2009

Managed the Process Engineering Department for the Continuous Improvement Program on Ethanol Plant Design. Engineer Department consisted of 20 Engineers and 10 Design Drafters.

Designed the process for the 40MGPY ethanol plants.

Developed Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). Included sizing of piping, pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, distillation columns, agitators, conveyors, filters, instrumentation and controls. Involved in the installation and start-up phases of these plants.

Involved in construction, commissioning and start-up of 40 MGPY ethanol plants.

ICM’s project responsibilities ranged from sixty (60) to one hundred and seventy-five (175) million dollars per job.

PROJECT MANAGER AND SR DESIGN ENGINEER – Smith and Loveless (S&L) 1998-2007

Managed Multimillion Dollar Projects involving complete allocation of responsibilities.

Responsibilities consisted in engineering and drafting of Projects.

Designed solvent extraction process equipment to be implemented in the Cooper Mines for BHP Billiton, Phelps Dodge, Exxon, CODELCO and Anglo-American.

Included complete process, instrumentation and controls design as well as the piping and prv calculations.

Programmed several projects using Allen-Bradley, Modicon, Siemens and GE PLC’s.

Designed electrical schematics and control panels.

Involved in the installation, commissioning and startup of these plants.

Completed O&M Manuals for these projects.

Involved in wastewater and municipal water projects for Shell Chemicals.

Coordinated installation and implemented start-up procedures.

PROCESS ENGINEER – Davy International/Kvaerner 1995-1996

Design team member for a metal iron pellet manufacturing plant for the country of India. Davy International/Kvaerner’s project responsibility was approximately 500 million dollars.

Sized of process equipment.

Provided Material/Energy Balance calculations for Process Flow Diagrams (PFD).

PROCESS ENGINEER – Packaging Corporation of America (TENNACO) 1994-1995

Maintained the polystyrene plant’s process.

Involved in PID up-grades and implemented process improvements.

Lead design engineer on the plant expansion project.

Expansion project was approximately 15 million dollars.

Plant produced polystyrene beads for food containers that met FDA regulations and the process met OSHA operational standards.

Developed Desulfurization Process for Oil/Fuels used at Oil Refineries. Process does not use hydrotreating or hydrocracking, instead oxidation and chemical extraction processes.

As a Team Leader, directed engineers and drafters on existing changes and future improvements involved in the design as well as the process layout. Coordinated the Process Engineering Department with other departments involved in Projects.

Engineered a Solvent Extraction Process in the Cooper Mines which will increase separation by 10%, while increasing production by three (3) times for similar equipment. Smith and Loveless retains the Solvent Extraction Process Patent in Countries involving four (4) Continents.

Engineered a Process Controls Network, which will decrease capital expense by 30% and manufacturing labor by 80%, while increasing information for operation and maintenance of instrumentation. Smith and Loveless issued the Process Controls Network for Patent.

Implemented chemical process changes that resulted in an 8% increase in production. Participated as a lead engineer in a $5 million project that increases plant production and improves product quality. Received Quality Assurance Team Award for process changes resulting in quality and production improvements.

Designed a mobile chemical separation and neutralization system for military applications. Coordinated transition to production. Mobile system successfully deployed in the field that met military standards and EPA regulations. Received General Bernard A Schriever Award for design of chemical separation/neutralization system.

Performed pilot plant studies to extract sulfur and nitrogen from minerals to produce acidic compounds. Sulfur and nitrogen system was with control data to enhance process efficiency. Formulated PFD/PID for scale-up. Process design included water and air emission treatment systems.

Developed a polymerization and soybean process system. Proficient at Statistical Process Control (SPC); competent in automated simulation of dynamic models.

Performed environmental sampling techniques and site assessments. Utilized a variety of laboratory equipment/procedures to determine specimen composition.
