Just a few paragraphs about me and my construction background. My years of experience in the construction industry and knowledge building construction has always been beneficial in my work. Starting out as a Plumber and them working in the Mechanical and Electrical trades finally ending up as a General Construction Superintendent and finally a Project Manager. With my training in the various trades I understand how and why a project is sequenced and then constructed the way it has to be. Each project has its own job specific general conditions that will lead the sequencing of that project. It has always been my privilege to confer this to the owners and the construction team. As a Project Manager it always falls on my shoulders to act as a buffer between the owner and the subcontractors. It never fails that a sub will feel not the way there is a right way or sequence to install his work. It is up to the Project Manager to make that sub his way is the way the entire project team has planned the project. My others strengths are negation, estimation, procurement, should problems arise trouble shooting, and then finally completion.

The size of a project is really a moot point as they all require the same skills the only difference is what I call the double d’s dollars and duration. I have completed projects that range from Twenty Thousand Dollars to Twenty-Six and One Half Million Dollars.

One of the concepts I feel strongly about is a client, a vendor, a subcontractor and an employee should be treated with honesty and thought of not just in the present tense, but also as a basis for future investment potential for their knowledge, their repeat business and continued employment.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and hold Plumbing and Heating Contractors/Master Licenses in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, Washington DC, WSSC and very soon Virginia. My management skills are;

A) The project Schedule is just one of the most important pieces of the construction process. B) In this day Labor as is the most important part of any construction. Being able to man a project with skilled labor is very tough.

C) Understanding the designer’s concept is a tough process. With a world economy a design team is made up of diverse nationalities. It take that extra mile to make sure that the entire project team is on the same page and there are no misunderstandings.

D) Finally a streamline company is a healthy company. Project Certifications

a) OSHA 30 Training

b) First Aid Training

c) CPR Training

d) Ladder Safety Training

e) Trench Competent Person Training

f) Confined Space Training

g) Fall Protection Training

h) Rigging Certified

i) Water Safety Training

Some of my outside interests are;

• I have spearheaded the development of programs at Rowan Cabarrus Community College, Central Piedmont Community and Central Florida Community College in the training of apprentices in the Mechanical Field.

• I have taught H.V.A.C. in the Baltimore County Community system.

• Since starting work in the DC area I have been active with the Mechanical Contractors Association of Metro Washington in hopes that should the need arise I will be able to help. I feel strongly about the building trades. I think it is a necessary to recognize there is knowledge lacking in the younger mechanics of today. Pride in their craftsman has to be the first obstacle to overcome. This could mean some of us have put in extra time into the training of our apprentices but I have always enjoyed this after all they are the future of our trade.

Thank You,

Steven G. Allen
