Manager LAMS (Lifecycle Asset Management System) Program 2005 - 2008
Managed project that better defined the processes of Installation
Qualification and Operation Qualification for capital projects. Used
Intergraph's suite of relational database programs to create key
attributes data for all tagged equipment which then was used in all
phases of Receipt Qualification, Installation Qualification and Operation
Qualification and then defined the state of the ready to manufacture
facility. This common information lowered commissioning and maintenance
costs and improved quality of facility information which lowered
regulatory risks (e.g. EPA, OHSA, FDA)
* Lowered capital project commissioning costs and shortened time period
needed for commissioning phase.
* Increased the quality of asset information resulting in projected lower
life cycle costs.
Senior Project Manager 2002 - 2005
Managed the design, purchasing and construction of a $440 million
parenteral powder filling facility and the associated office/lab complex.
* Used modular construction for the filling areas resulting in lower
costs and faster construction.
* Required early involvement of commissioning personnel during all design
phases which improved the quality and speed of the commisioning and
qualification phases of the project.
* Insisted on early definition of IQ/OQ requirements as construction and
procurement contract deliverables.

Directed all engineering elements of a world wide conversion to SAP of
all financial and HR IT systems.

customer service operations of product over the 13 western states,
representing $1.4 billion in sales (1999 numbers).
* Conducted all DEA, FDA and California state facility audits
successfully.
* Authored all local GMP procedures.
* Reduced operating errors to 0.001%, average order cycle times to 1.8
days from 2 weeks and operating expenses by 10%.
* Converted inventory management/ordering processing from batch paper to
bar code/on line system.
* Generated large EVA by selling then leasing back only a portion of the
original facility.
Department Head Construction Engineering, Tippecanoe Laboratories,
Lafayette, Indiana 1990 - 1992
First combined (plant and corporate engineering) department head of all
contractor activities at the plant site. Integrated all contractor
activities for an 850 headcount per day contractor work force.
Supervised 24 professional direct reports.
* Created a highly functional work group from former adversaries. Plant
engineering verses Corporate Engineering.
* Designed and instituted the first contractor safety program at site,
resulting in a 20% reduction of OSHA recordables. Also started the first
tracking of I and I's as a leading indicator of safety program
effectiveness.
* Designed first automated contractor badging system which allowed us to
screen contractor employees that failed drug screens or were suspended
because of safety violations. This gave the safety program sufficient
"teeth" to get contractor's attention.
* Built first central project receiving/warehousing facility which allows
for security of project materials and better tracking and retrieval of
project purchases.

First department head of Lilly Corporate Center plant engineering.
Integrated plant engineering and corporate engineering activities during
a major expansion of the plant resulting in a coordinated engineering
support for the capital spend at the plant. Restructured organization of
department and supervised 26 direct professional reports.
* Developed integrated approach for design input on corporate projects
that resulted in lower life cycle costs for the corporation.
* Directed maintenance activities to minimize expansions impact on plant

1988
First civil engineer with corporate engineering experience in position.
Responsible for all maintenance that wasn't mechanical/electrical for 3+
million sq ft corporate headquarters site.
* Integrated plant and corporate engineering resources for problem

* Built inventory system of roofing, wall and flooring systems that
resulted in lower maintenance costs and valuable input into new capital
projects.
* Developed preventative and predictive maintenance programs to lower and

Lead a variety of projects at multiple Lilly plant sites. Responsible for
purchasing, design and construction contracting and budget control as
well as construction field activities.
* Major maintenance shops expansion at Clinton Laboratory ...new building
and major remodeling of existing facilities.
* Major maintenance shops, office, and lab facility at Tippecanoe Labs.
Facility was a combination of three separate initiatives that saved
money, time and valuable plant real estate.
* Major maintenance shops, office, site circulation and sales training
facility at Corporate Center. Creative reuse of old buildings won AIA
award. Used creative construction processes to work around existing
operation in a very congested and visible site.
