CREW LEADER/Skilled Craft Worker

• Crew Leader for our D&D group and occasionally upgraded to the Supervisor position when needed

• Removed Radioactive and Hazardous waste from glove boxes during the Deactivation and Decommission phase at the Rocky Flats facility

• Worked in Supplied Air making two entries a day.

• The first D&D worker to enter the Infinity Room in over 30 years

• Cut piping using the Tap and Drain method as a vacuum source using four wheel cutters as well as hydraulic crimpers.

• Removed all tools and equipment from the inside of glove boxes often using Plasma-arc welders as a cutting utensil.

• Removed all asbestos from the ceilings, piping and floors

• Removed vacuum vent lines leading to the filter plenums and overheads using saws-alls and nibblers

• Used chain falls and picking eyes to hoist and rig the vent pipes and lowered them down.

Used saws-alls, port-a-band saws and German saws to cut glove boxes, water wall, pencil

tanks and filter plenums inside Supplied Air Containments in PAPRs and Supplied Air

• Removed the lead used for blocking Ionizing Radiation from the outside of the glove boxes before cutting the glove box into sections small enough for the exit door

Attended Colorado State pursuing a degree as an Environmental Management Specialist for three years before being asked to go back to Rocky Flats

TSDF MANAGER: 9/1990-12/1995

• Responsible for the RCRA daily and weekly inspections.

• Managed seven Supervisors and their assigned Chemical Operator crews in the repacking and shipping of thousands of Transuranic and Low Level shipping containers to WIPP, the Nevada Test Site and Enviro-Care in Utah.

• Managed the storage, treatment, sampling, and repackaging of shipments received.

• Repacked 25,000 containers of Pondcrete and Saltcrete tri-walls

• The liaison for my company dealing with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment

CHEMICAL OPERATOR: 3/1983- 9/1990

• Operated various process lines in the recovery of Plutonium Metal for nuclear weapons.
