Die design experience:
Pro-E 3-D progressive die design.
Have worked in the tool and die trade for approximately 20 years.
Have worked both in the design of tools and machinery and in the building
of tools and machinery.
The size of dies designed range from small flat blanking dies to make
something as simple as a flat washer for the bearing industry to large
multi-station progressive dies to produce automotive brackets.
Progressive dies have included draw stations, forming, piercing, extruding,
cam piercing, cam forming, notching, and cutoffs.
Progressive dies sizes range from 10x10 inches to 40x85 inches, with
progressions from .500 inches to 10.000 inches, and stocks widths from .500
inches to 36.0 inches.
Designed tubing transfer dies to produce seat frame components for
automotive industry.
The parts for which dies have been designed for include: Thrust bearings,
furniture companies, automotive metal stampers, a bus body manufacturer,
tanning bed manufacturer, appliance companies, and a lawn mower
manufacturer.
Press sizes range from 100 ton to 800-ton presses.
Have designed dies to meet varying customer press specs and die design
specs.
Including allowances for part and scrap removal, quick die change,
selection of tool steels, purchased components, inserting, die wear,
adjustability, die maintenance and operator safety.
Several years of experience in 3D Modeling of solids and surfacing for
machining die components, as well as creation of CNC Tool paths.
Many years experience working with tool buyers and tooling engineers to
insure tools are designed and built in timely manner, run efficiently, and
produce parts within specs.
