As the Secretary of Business Development and Competitiveness for the city of Cali, Colombia facilitated the participation of 118 local businesses in a five-day global tradeshow in Mexico City. 5000 companies worldwide participated.

Met with the owners of the 118 businesses selected to participate. Advised owners on how to improve their products for the global market. Designed packaging for each product. Produced a CD featuring interviews and products for each business. Uploaded the CD to the website for the event. Sales increased by over 25 % for all businesses within a year.

Repeated the process described above for 61 companies for a three-day trade show in Panama City, Panama and increased sales by 17 %.

Co-led the development of a Competitiveness EXPO featuring businesses in the Cali, Colombia area. Selected the site for the meeting and worked with a six-person team to manage all logistics.

Visited, interviewed and selected 200 out of 300 applicants. Colombian business people attended the show.

Met with coca growers in the area and offered government support to switch to growing crops such potatoes, yucca, beans, rice and pineapples. About 50% agreed. Followed up to ensure compliance.

Received referrals from the government’s Pro Export entity. Called the customers in the US, Europe and Latin America and received orders for clothing, canned food, fresh fruit, meat and products made by artisans. Contacted the manufacturers, producers and the negotiated prices and terms with the customer.
