OBJECTIVE

Opportunity to help a leadership team improve profits and company valuation through improved

productivity and customer retention while lowering costs through my innovating IT management and

solutions.

SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE

20+ years of saving or creating millions of dollars of increased profitability through my managing and

innovating IT for Fortune 500’s. Managed teams of all sizes and types of projects and experienced with

tools as varied as Access, SQL Server 7.0, Oracle, OLAP Cubes, Visual Basic, Excel, Word, PowerPoint,

Lotus 1-2-3, Quattro, Windows 98, Crystal Reports, Cognos and Monarch.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Great American Insurance IT Services 1998 – Present Cincinnati, OH

BUSINESS ANALYST ENTERPRISE PORTAL TEAM

• Increased workplace productivity by an estimated 5% through implementation of Wireframes,

Test Cases and Use Cases for SharePoint sites throughout the Enterprise.

• Empowered management to improve productivity and profitability by creating Monthly Portal

Reports tracking page usage for each division using our Agent Portals.

• Collaborated with our American Financial Corporate team to completely redo our internal Travel

and Procurement site. These are pages for employees to find promotions, such as discounted hotel rates,

discounted ticket prices for Kings Island, Reds games and the Newport Aquarium. The previous site

looked like a Word document, with a lot of text and “Click Here” for links. We revamped the site using

a consistent theme across each page with pictures, bullets, less verbiage, intuitive links and web parts.

The result has been a huge increase in traffic to the new pages. Employees, who never bothered to even

look at the site before, are visiting these pages more frequently to see what new discounts and

promotions are being offered.

• Assist Customer Care by troubleshooting problems they cannot solve. Sometimes this may

require documenting a defect and getting a developer involved to fix the defect. It may involve

addressing a training issue with customer care, so they become better equipped to handle similar

problems in the future.

SENIOR APPLICATION DEVELOPER

• Helped to increase profitability and improve data control by building over 80 databases in

Access, most with SQL Server 7.0 back ends. Set up the DTS packages between Access, Oracle and

other Data Sources to SQL, all roles, all user ids, upsizing of tables, VBA modules and code, and

permissions in SQL. Developed all of the management reports, training, table design and

troubleshooting.

• Saved $6 million in development costs in ramp up of Sublog application utilizing Access, SQL

Server and Excel. Application used by 60 users in Cincinnati and our remote offices via Citrix.

Estimates to do application in Java was 1.2 million dollars. We did it for 85,000 dollars with more

functionality. Provided net savings to the company of over $6,000,000. Currently adding enhancements

to make SOAP call to ESB using XML.

• Helped to improve revenues by setting up Phone Pay Application using Oracle for customer to

enter Electronic Check or Credit Card Payments over the phone.

Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems – The McFaul and Lyons Group 1993 - 1998

Cincinnati, OH

BUSINESS ANALYST AND DEVELOPER

• Saved $200,000 by providing administrative and database support to all Consultants, as well as

the Senior Vice President of Operations. Devised, designed and maintained all important databases of

Hospital recommendations, while concurrently working on a number of important projects requiring

precise attention to detail.

• Improved profits by $300,000 by creating application to measure surgical room utilization. This

saved approximately 100 hours per engagement, by helping our analysts identify efficiencies and

whether it was feasible to consolidate surgical rooms.

• Saved $500,000 in annual costs by implementation of Monarch to transform information from

mainframe electronic reports to a database. This helped analysts easily find the products they were

looking for. The previous process was to print the report and manually search through thousand of

pages of paper, before flagging items with post it notes. This process alone saved the company

approximately 40 hours per account. We had over 300 accounts signed between 1993 and 1998.
