Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), Worcester, MA
Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering, GPA: 3.1/4.0 May 2013
SKILLS:
SolidWorks, LabVIEW, MatLab, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Metal Inert Gas Welding (MIG), CNC Machining
PROJECTS:
Major Qualifying Project (MQP), Phillips Healthcare, Worcester, MA/WPI Sept. 2012–May 2013
TEE Haptic Feedback System: Collaborated in a team of three to develop a haptic feedback control system for a
transesophageal echocardiogram probe. Researched current haptic technologies available on the market and feasible
design ideas focusing on combining simplicity, efficiency, and reliability. Designed a customized haptic feedback
control and sensor system for our application and developed a SolidWorks model. Built a functional prototype using a
combination of self-manufactured parts as well as parts from several suppliers. Designed and implemented test
procedures to prove the prototype’s functionality.
Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP), Boston, MA Mar. 2011-Oct. 2011
Reducing Boston Fire Department Energy Consumption: Collaborated in a team of three to help the City of
Boston reduce the Boston Fire Departments energy consumption. Traveled to over half of Boston’s fire stations,
inventorying station appliances and implementing meters to track energy use. Proposed new technologies such as Air
Curtains to minimize heat/air-conditioning loss. Integrated findings into the city’s new Asset Management Software
System. Presented findings to Boston’s Environmental Commissioner on how to save more than $100,000 annually as
well as future steps to take.
EXPERIENCE:
Mechanical Engineering Internship, AIS, Hudson, MA May 2012-Aug. 2012
Utilized SolidWorks to create models and drawings of complex parts. Collaborated with the VP of engineering to
ensure products met BIFMA standards to be environmentally friendly. Assisted in the transition of producing
products from one manufacturing process to a more accurate and efficient process. Reverse-engineered numerous
products to obtain accurate dimensions for models and drawings. Aided in the company’s integration with a recently
acquired company.
Volunteer Research Assistant, Wind Tunnel Traverse System Design, WPI Dec. 2010-Mar. 2011
Designed a comprehensive model in SolidWorks for a device capable of measuring air conditions at any point in the
cross sectional area of a wind tunnel. Worked with companies to determine parts, costs, and viable design options.
Founder/Owner, RD Studios, Amherst, NH Jan. 2006-June 2009
Produced film advertisements for local businesses using HD video camera equipment. Collaborated with business
owners and marketing teams to develop creative advertisements to display on the Internet, in showrooms, and
through television. Clients included Jabra, Red Cross, Ferrari and Maserati of New England, and the United Way.
