Responsible for contract review and analysis of customer order specifications for aerospace, heavy equipment, oil and gas industry forgings. Responsible for writing new and updating all current manufacturing plans and fixed process plans including specifying the heat treating procedures for all closed die forgings produced at Canton Drop Forge. Established testing programs for material evaluation to customer specifications. Responsibility for the product quality for all steelmaking units, a two-strand slab caster and slab product inspection. Superintendent of the steel making facility which included a desulphurization station, two BOF units, and an electric arc melt furnace and two ladle metallurgical refining units. The continuous scrap charge electric furnace is a 265-ton per heat unit and one of the largest capacity furnaces of its type in the world. As superintendent, maintained a quality system that was ISO 9000 compliant and sufficient to analyze operating performance and assure conformance to customer specifications. Trials were conducted and evaluated which promoted continuous improvement. ISO 9000 responsibilities included auditing, and cause and corrective action investigations.
