Healthcare field. I have completed an Intermediate Care RN course, and hold current BLS and ACLS
Experience
certifications, and have Utilization Review experience. I am proficient in medical terminology and I
have computer experience through my past and present jobs as well as home use. I am familiar with

RN Utilization Management
In this position, I am responsible to review, verify and process requests for diagnostic testing,
inpatient admissions, outpatient procedures/testing, home health care, pharmacy pre authorization
and DME as applicable, and cover Prior authorization phone lines. As a prior authorization UM
nurse, I review prior authorization requests for medical appropriateness by using established clinical
protocols to determine the medical necessity of the request. I utilize Milliman Care Guidelines,
CMS, plan specific coverage policies and collaborate with members of the management team and
the Medical Director in determining medical necessity of service, level of care, length of stay and
general appropriateness of care in the most cost effective, quality setting. My main responsibility
was determining medical appropriateness for home healthcare for our members and working
closely with the care management team to promote positive outcomes for our patients. I also
performed Medical Claims Reviews for our claims department to review denied claims for medical
necessity in coordination with our Medical Director.
