Design for control and distribution of inert and hazardous gases, air and

water handling for thermal management of equipment

Performed detailed design and component lay out for new and improved

subsystems.

Full documentation of design including BOM, drawings and procedures.

Performed tolerance analysis at system and subsystem level.

Interacted with development engineers, scientists, suppliers and QA to

resolve quality issues.

Design verification testing.

SOLAR TURBINES, INC. San Diego, California

Senior Principal Engineer - Product Retrofit and Upgrade (2004 - 6/2012)

via Volt Technical Resources

Played key role in designing, developing niche product line into multi-

million dollar aftermarket business by creating outstanding, cost-efficient

module designs used in the Oil and Gas Industry. The effort resulted in

reducing down time by 75%.

Responsible for the mechanical design of package upgrades and retrofits,

ranging from minor system upgrades through in-situ refurbishment of entire

packages. Design flexibility extended to fulfill NEC, CENELEC, ATEX and CSA

regulatory requirements for European, Canadian, other world wide markets.

Worked with various engineering, shop floor operations, and field

installation personnel to ensure high quality, safe and cost effective

designs.

Designed, prepared package system layouts on interactive graphic system

(PRO/E)

Developed fabrication drawings for frames, pipe assemblies, and support

brackets.

Interfaced extensively and resolved problems with other engineering

disciplines and production to ensure incorporation of all required package

design criteria.

Interacted with installation, commissioning personnel to ensure customer

downtime is minimized during project execution.

Interacted with equipment suppliers, third party engineering firms and

customers.

Conducted fuel valve and module testing at diverse engine operating

conditions.

Collaborated with Supplier to optimize and upgrade fuel valve design to

meet engine operating conditions.

Thorough knowledge of standard drafting practices, product configuration

tools, BOMs, Windchill, hydromechanical.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer/Team Lead, Combustion (1989-2000)

Team Lead, responsible for New Product Introduction (NPI) of combustion

technology by delivering outstanding combustion system fulfilling goals for

ultra-low-emissions, dual-fuel capability, and 30K-hour material

durability. Team lead responsibility included concept, combustion system

design, rig testing, first article validation, testing, full scale engine

testing, leading to final system delivery and after market interaction with

customer. System has potential for retrofitting to 4.7K hp engine.

Worked with Suppliers for the application of Thermal barrier coatings (TBC)

such as ceramic coating, oxidation and corrosion coatings for protecting

high temperature turbine components.

Followed up by leading team to expand design to 10.3K hp engine from

concept to final delivery to Customer and after market monitoring of the

combustion system.

Led NPI team to win and again as runner-up in the President's Annual

Quality Improvement Award.

Secured U.S. Patent (#5404711) for dual-fuel injector design.

Led development of combustion system encompassing injectors, combustors,

with ultra-low-emission capability for various engine types.

Managed diverse project activities by orchestrating cross-functional teams

in prototyping, first article testing, atmospheric and high-pressure rig

testing and full scale engine testing.
