ON-SITE: SUPERINTENDENT/SAFETY OFFICER & QUALITY CONTROL: Fort Irwin
Military Base, Barstow, CA. Organized three floor barrack renovation project; required to phase work
one floor at a time while other two floors stayed occupied; did soft demo and build-out; developed site
safety program; did physical work as needed to help project and worked directly with USACE Quality
Assurance Representative.
McCARTHY BUILDING COMPANIES. Newport Beach, CA. 11/1995 thru
01/2005
SAFETY COORDINATOR: California Division, managed safety program with Doug Burford, the
Director of Risk Management & In-house attorney; worked with Steve Cox, Division Safety Director
after Doug Burford left McCarthy. Work included: workers' compensation documentation for hundreds
of projects in (9) nine plus years. My efforts in the safety department helped reduce the OSHA
Recordable Incident Rate; the OSHA's Lost Time Case Rate and the State Insurance Ex-Mod Rate.
Our Safety Department received, 2002 AGC California: Million Man-Hour Safety Award.
I assisted in several OCIP Projects and one CCIP Project. I tracked, coordinated and scheduled all
Division safety training for company; enforced Cal-OSHA and project requirements for all McCarthy
subcontractors, staff and field personnel. I wrote-up and disciplined employees who were non-
compliant, which included days off without pay. I promoted the safety program outwardly with
wearable items; I ordered and distributed all promotional “Safety Works” items to individuals, on
monthly and quarterly basis, for all job sites who had Zero Incident rates. I personally inspected every
job site and project type in California: hospitals, parking garages, offices, K-12 schools, Universities,
industrial, commercial, entertainment, public works, tenant improvements, etc.

performed, did quantity take-offs, ordered materials, wrote RFI’s, did material submittals, attended
owner’s project meetings, scheduled subcontractor work, did system start-up’s, completed punch list

56 Villas, finalized issues with City & Utilities in 56 Villas for occupancy move-in as
scheduled.
3. UNIVERSITY CALIFORNIA IRVINE, Science Library; monitored bankrupted steel
subcontractor @ their fabrication plant in Salt Lake City, UT, to ensure steel delivery.
4. LOMA LINDA MEDICAL CENTER, Corridor & Entry Projects, close-out & warranty
process.
5. CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY @ FULLERTON, Science Laboratory; punch list,
turn-over and close-out. Job from hell, Owner couldn’t use it & didn’t have money to operate
it.
6. KAISER BALDWIN PARK HOSPITAL started & completed punch list process for 750,000
square foot project; finalized I.O.R. correction items and was third person left on-site.
7. BANK OF AMERICA DATA CENTER @ 9th Floor Cafeteria. San Francisco, CA. Interior
demo and rebuild in Critical Work Environment; wrote demo scripts; micro-managed MEP
subcontractor work with general foreman and superintendent. Worked different shifts, 7-days a
week as needed. Opened on time per original schedule and the success of this project opened
the doors for years of work between McCarthy and Bank of America.
8. POMONA VALLEY HOSPITAL, Pomona, CA. Worked on seven (7) OSHPD Projects in
occupied hospital with superintendent: corridors, above existing ceilings and shell build-outs
for new x-ray department and new LDR wing night shift work.
9. DISNEY GOALS, Outdoor In-Line Skate Rink Project. (Non-profit) As Construction
Manager, I organized, supervised and did field labor; recruited subcontractors and material
vendors to provide and perform all work and materials for free, with the hope to get public
relations as their only perk to City of Anaheim and Disney. Original 30-day schedule, started
late demo sub stood me up but was able complete project in less than 30-days.
KETTERING & KRUSSMAN, INC. Artesia, CA. 11/1988 to
05/1990
PROJECT ENGINEER: I worked with P. M. to gather material product data and costs from
vendors for product submittals; I did concrete and rebar quantity take offs for estimators.
PURCHASING ADMINISTRATOR: I set-up and organized new Purchase Order System;
managed purchases thru my office by having all Superintendents place their material and
equipment orders with me; from nails to concrete ready mix; from truck cranes to concrete
pump equipment. I meet with all salesmen; I shopped around and documented best available
prices and material stock. I worked with company yard foreman to dispatch materials &
equipment items requested by superintendents for delivery to their individual job sites. I revised,
approved and processed all vendor invoices prior to payment. In first 12-months, I was able

to deduct and save $589,000 from invoices for incorrect pricing by salesman, unapproved hidden
costs and vendor accounting department mistakes.

PORT OF TACOMA, KAISER ALUMINUM PLANT FACTORY: HVAC Superintendent put me in
charge of safety and material organization. Factory was active and occupied 24 hour a day 7-day week, it
produced aluminum from raw materials, via high voltage & low amperage, and nothing grounded, making
it very dangerous. We removed old under sized steel exhaust duct work with hazardous material inside
duct; loaded out & removed hazardous material to Oregon; installed new heavy gauged round steel
ductwork; upgraded whole exhaust system upgrade for EPA Clean Air Act. Facility so dirty, coveralls
required & provided; shower trailers provided & showers were required for workers before leaving site.
Also, plant had drive-thru car rinsing station available to wash off factory ‘fall-out’ from vehicles. I
operated forklifts, scissor lifts and articulated skip loader.
WASHINGTON STATE CORRECTIONAL CENTER: Shelton, WA. Punch list work @ New IMU
