• As a worker at the Courtyard Bistro, I was in charge of the MICROS register, counting money before
opening and after closing, cooking dishes, serving guests food and beverages, working the bar, washing
tables, and vacuuming.

• As a worker of interlibrary loans, I packaged requested books and sent them to specific schools.
Packages had to be sent to the mail room by 12:00 p.m. so it required an individual to package a large
amount of books quickly. I was also in charge of restocking books and delivering books back to
professors.

AFRI CASA (AFRICAN AND CARRIBEAN STUDENT ASSOCIATION)
• As president of AFRICASA, I was in charge of arranging board meetings, general meetings, and making
sure that everyone on the board was doing their job. It was my duty for me and my board to promote
awareness about African and Caribbean culture on campus because we are such an unrepresented
group of people. I also advertised our organization at different activities fairs. I also helped arrange our
Invisible Children dorm storm. August 2011 December 2011
• As AFRICASA Dance Coordinator, I was in charge of gathering men and women from AFRICASA who
were interested in dancing. I was also in charge of creating African dances which we would perform at
cultural events on campus. I had to create the dances for the boys as well as for the girls. January 2011

• As DJ playlist arranger for AFRICASA mixer, I helped create a playlist for our AFRICASA mixer and was
given the duty to find a DJ that was able to mix the songs in the right manner. September 2009
• As treasurer of African and Caribbean Student Association (AFRICASA), I was in charge of budgeting
the money for certain events and activities. I also was an event coordinator along with my job as
treasurer which consisted of coming up with ideas for specific events and bringing them to life. August

• As a volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club in Winston Salem, I would help kids with their homework.

• As a member of Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity, I had to complete 25 hours of community service per
semester and only 10 outside hours could be counted towards these 25 hours. I also had to participate in
the social activities of this fraternity whether it be on campus or off campus. My first year as a member of
this fraternity, I was a big to a rushee. As a big, I had to inform my rushee about the requirements of this
fraternity and check every week whether they had completed their hours. August 2010 December 2011
HOPE ORGANIZATION
• HOPE is an organization in which students go out and help out at schools that have kids with special
needs. As a member of HOPE organization, I volunteered weekly for three hours at Special Children’s
School in Winston Salem. This school has kids with special needs that just need someone to talk to them
and play games with them. August 2008 May 2010
WAKE UP!/Kenya Kids Can Organization
• Wake UP! Or Kenya Kids Can Organization is an organization that raises money for kids in Kenya
specifically the Rift Valley area in order for them to have food in schools and also for them to have solar
panel computers. These schools were primary schools. As events coordinator for Wake Up!

Organization, I helped find a venue and arrange a schedule for our Main Event. At this Main Event we
had acapella groups sing, we had a slide show showing pictures of kids in Kenya being helped by this
organization and we also had great food. People had to donate five dollars before coming to this event.
In total, we raised $2,000 for this organization. For the Less than Latte fundraiser, we advertised the
Wake Up! Organization to students on campus at a coffee shop called Campus Grounds which helps
raise money for the Kenya Kids Can Organization. August 2010 May 2011
• I was also the DJ for Wake Up! Main Event which consisted of creating a playlist and playing traditional
Kenyan tracks. February 2011
GOSPEL CHOIR
• I was a soprano in the Gospel Choir and would sing for various churches in Winston Salem. August 2008

ANOTHER DJ EVENT
• As DJ for Alpha Kappa Psi Formal Event which is the business fraternity at Wake Forest University, I
created a playlist, set up speakers and played music at a local bar in Winston Salem. February 2011
