OBJECTIVE

SUPERVISOR/PROJECT MANAGER - CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY

SUMMARY

Wide range of experience in the construction industry as a project

manager/supervisor/superintendent and a top notch problem solver. Degreed

in Construction Science from the University Of Oklahoma College Of

Architecture with supporting education in soils, foundation engineering,

wood, steel, and concrete design/construction. Has consistently

demonstrated initiative and improvisation. Leadership style is decisive.

Very analytical and flexible with the ability to adjust to changing project

conditions with the experience to minimize completion date extensions.

Enjoys working in a highly visible and pressured atmosphere. Proficient in

Microsoft Systems and familiar with Online Systems Takeoff and Primavera.

CPR and OSHA 10 Hour Certifications.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Construction Management/Supervision

. Took charge of a multi-million dollar project that was running behind

schedule. Improved coordination between trades by reviewing the

subcontractors' scope of work and the current job status then

instituted a 3 week look ahead schedule. Established subcontractor

performance criteria to make up time. Project was completed on

schedule and received the "Excellence in Construction Award" from the

Associated Builders and Contractors of Northeast Oklahoma.

. Managed construction of a multi-million dollar Chevron off shore

facility in California. Created qualified subcontractor and vendor

lists, released project for bidding and awarded contracts. Received

bidder input and constructed the schedule. Oversaw construction and

worked with up to 75 personnel to complete the project on time thus

avoiding a $25,000.00/day Liquidated Damage Clause.

. Supervised a complex project during challenging weather conditions.

Construction of a 90,000 sq. ft. jet aircraft hanger and 7,000 sq. ft.

private terminal started in mid December. By mid January the ground

was frozen to a depth of 2 ft. Overcame the weather by building tents

out of tarps and used 8 diesel fired heaters nightly in sections prior

to excavation. Used the same system for subsequent masonry work. Beat

the weather and completed the project on time.

. Showed flexibility and creativity in the construction and/or

reconfiguration of seven off shore platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.

Scheduling and bad weather had a created a situation where all

projects (each a different client) needed to be completed within days

of each other. Due to weight and size restrictions, helicopters could

not be used. Improvised by contracting a large shrimp boat to get

equipment and material on site. Work was completed as scheduled.

. Worked with a structural engineer to get a steel fabrication facility

back up and running after a roof collapsed due to a winter storm.

Welded column flanges had sheared off allowing the structural steel to

twist. The interior was completely destroyed. Safely erected shoring,

bracing and temporary columns to create 4000 sq. ft. of temporary

office space. The company met all orders.

Construction Management/Supervision (continued)

. Took initiative to correct a job site problem that involved a pink

limestone installation mismatch. Inspection showed that 500 sq. ft.

of limestone did not match what had been installed. With the architect

unavailable, tests were conducted to find a suitable match.

Ultimately, buffing with a special wheel created the acceptable match.

The architect and owner signed off on the results.

Problem Solving/Issue Resolution

. Coordinated the remediation of friable asbestos decking for the

University Of Tulsa College Of Business. Ceiling tile removal showed

that pieces of decking had fallen onto the ceiling tile creating a

health hazard. Met with architects, structural engineers, abatement

contractors and school officials. Took charge of the project and

successfully removed the material and roof from the inside after

erecting18, 000 sq. ft. of scaffolding. In addition, renovated the

3rd floor - all while classes were in session on 1st and 2nd floors.

. Joined a union to help get the job done. Picket lines had stopped

construction. Negotiated with the local union rep and decided that if

the General Superintendent became a union member, the situation could

be resolved. Passed the test, the picket lines disappeared and the

project was completed.

. Took over job that had been halted. Specifications called for a

patented structural soil to be used under concrete sidewalks. With 30%

of the project complete no samples had been submitted and no

structural soil had been used. The real issues were: 1. Would the

City of Tulsa allow use of structural soil 2. Could it be obtained,

and, 3. How to handle previously installed sidewalks? Met with City

officials and civil engineer and obtained approval of submittals and

sample after locating a source. Negotiated a 10 yr. warranty against

tree root damage to the sidewalks with City.

. Solved a problem caused by geothermal wells leaking water under a $1

million irrigated landscaping package. The leak was found by

isolating each circuit and installing pressure gauges at appropriate

places to monitor pressure over time. Once the leak was isolated

daily job reports indicated likely areas where the poly-piping could

have been damaged. The leak was repaired and damage to the landscape

was minimal.

. Drew on past experience with concrete to address an issue with

concrete steps for an outdoor stage and pavilion developing hairline

cracks in spite of being installed according to specifications.

Because of extreme heat, the hydration rate of the concrete had been

accelerated. By installing the steps at night and modifying the mix

design, the finished product met specifications.
