EXPERIENCE
Dr. Ralph Loring’s Laboratory, Northeastern University, Boston, MA May 2012-May 2013
Research Assistant
Project: Studying the anti-inflammatory effects of nicotine by investigating the blockage of the Nfkb signaling pathway by
transfecting the HEK wild type cells with Nfkb driven SEAP reporter plasmid expression of alpha 7 and Ric3 chaperone.
• Transiently transfected HEK-wild type cells with DNA constructs such as the Nfkb SEAP plasmid in p9kb and
validated the transfections qualitatively (Fluorescence Microscopy) and quantitatively (SEAP and Metridia Luciferase
assay)
• Designed, conducted and analyzed experiment successfully to decide the ideal DNA: transfection reagent ratio
• Successfully developed a stable cell line of HEK cells with the Nfkb driven SEAP reporter plasmid
• Performed Binding assays using 125I labeled alpha bungarotoxin to study percentage of receptor expression
Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Northeastern University, Boston, MA Sept 2012 – Dec 2012
