Work Experience
Ivy.H.Smith
Foreman- 6/2010-6/2012
Ivy H Smith is a sub -contractor for At&t underground facilities. I was a Foreman of my own
crew for almost 2 years and I was a regular laborer as well. My Job consisted of driving to my
jobs (several a day.) where I did several different procedures some include placing new AT&T
phone or fiber cables via back-hoe or hand- digging, rodding customer conduits, placing new
conduit, And for a long time I was an emergency pit digger. My other duty was, clossing
finished pits and excavations, replace the sod and restore site back to condition it was before the
excavation. Being a laborer also had a another big responsibility and it was to be a utility
spotter for back hoe excavations, or even on my own excavations. I had to probe and locate
utilities by spot digging to make sure all utilities are out of harm’s way during an excavation. I
used to easily work 12+ hour shifts daily during these excavations outside in extreme conditions.
My job also requires me to operate within O.S.H.A standards as far as trench and excavation
safety goes. Because the job requires travel, company vehicles are provided and used to reach
work-site. Great customer service and team work was needed to keep our client at&t happy so
that they could keep their clients satisfied as well. In totality working this job has given me vast
amounts of knowledge and experience in the underground utility industry as well as my
knowledge of the area geographically.
Mastec
Foreman- 9/2008-6/2010
Mastec is also another At&t Subcontractor. It is the same kind of work, but a different company.
Mastec lost its contract as Att's master subcontractor when Ivy Smith was awarded with the bid
in the Orlando region. When this took place Ivy H smith hired some people from Mastec. I was a
part of Mastec’s crew hired on board.
Temple Inland/International Paper
1st helper- 6/2006-05/2008
Temple Inland/ International paper is a Box and tray warehouse. My job was to I operated a
machine called a Ward Die-cutter that makes trays and boxes for several different customer
accounts, like Coca cola, Papa johns and Kraft foods. As operator my job was to calibrate the
machine to the exact specifications to then run the machine at certain speed while as well doing
periodic quality checks every 15 minutes I also did time as a stacker. That job consisted of
stacking perfect bales or pallets on a stack-assist. In this position I also monitored quality
vigilantly making sure product matched customer specifications. As a stacker, it was company
policy to be the “last line of "defense” of running a bad order and catching any defected product
before it reached our clients. In my time at this job I also worked in shipping, staging orders and
filling outgoing trucks as well .I also learned the basics of operating a fork lift but I am not
certified, and I learned how to use a pallet jack.
Burlington coat Factory
Sales associate 10/2005- 5/2006
At Burlington Coat Factory, I was a sales associate for the shoe department. My main
Responsibility was to help the customers any way possible. I listened carefully to what my client
said he or she was looking for and then I would find them the shoe their looking for based on
what they told me. I learned at this job knowing my merchandise goes hand and hand with great
customer service. Outside of giving assisting the customers we were required to maintain the
department stocked properly, cleaned and maintained.
