Duke Medical Center; Division of Neonatology & PBMT, 01/01/2007 -
12/31/2012
Administrative Manager: In this position I was responsible for the
operation of the division's seven units to include grants & contracts,
faculty support, clinic administration, billing, clinical research, lab
management, and financial reporting. I managed all financial aspects of
the division with respect to Administration, Research, Clinical Trials, and
Grants. This would include reconciliation of fund codes, cash flow
management, divisional & operational budgeting, oversight of endowments &
NPRI forecasting, and cash flow management. I also was responsible for all
aspects of HR with respect to hiring, job creation, organization of
workflow, and management of people resources. Lastly, I oversaw the
Administration of the division with respect to day-to-day operations, the
use of physical resources, purchasing, space, problem solving, and
conferences. This is accomplished with an immediate staff of 13 people and
a total for both divisions of 105 staff & faculty. (50 Hours per week)
Duke Medical Center; Institute for Genome Sciences & Policy, 09/14/05-

Financial Analyst: In this position I was responsible for any and all
accounting activities as specified by Duke's institutional policies &
procedures for the Institute for Genome Sciences & Policy. I have
experience with SAP R/3 which is the base system for various accounting
projects. I also worked with the STAR system, which monitors space
tracking, and with PARIS, the Procurement Card purchasing system. I also
manage the account clearing, reconciliation, and the internal control over
various Cost Centers and Sponsored Projects. I also oversee the Service
Centers for the IGSP. This included all aspects of billing, collections,
payroll distribution, grant management, account reconciliation, and rate
calculation for Holly Dressman's Microarray Facility, Kevin Shianna's
Genotyping Facility, and Tom Burke's RNAi Facility. I also have been
certified through the RCC program for Cost Compliance within the Duke
University system. (40 Hours per week)

Business Coordinator: I was responsible for the financial management of
the organization to include budgeting, planning and financial analysis for
revenues and expenses, preparation of profit and loss statements, cash
reconciliation, and accounts payable and receivable tracking.
Program Director: Coordinated the start up and continuation of a Reformers
Unanimous addiction outreach program, responsible for marketing, public
relations, managing of all financial aspects of program, teaching and
training of personnel, and inventory control. (50 Hours per weeks)

Forensic Accountant: I was responsible for a client base of 500 individual
and business tax returns. Analyzing business ventures for profit and
sustainability.
Operations Manager: I managed the computer network, financial decisions,
day-to-day operations, and new business development for the organization. I
also consulted with clients on asset risk management, depreciation &
depletion decisions, and financial forecasting. (40 Hours per week)
