Name an instance where you were able to improve quality and/or production:
While working on a contract involving a company that builds skid steer loaders, my job
was to produce the loader arms for these skid steers. Since my company began
production for these loader arms, they have had trouble with one end of the part being
warped (two sides of one end sucking inward), as a result of the heat caused by the
welding process. This affected the dimensional tolerance and a new step had to be
engineered into the whole process in order to correct the issue. This added up to a hour to
the production of the part. Conscience of the issue, I began to work on a sequence of
building the part during the welding process that would correct the issue without the
added step. I was successful and the quality assurance department quickly noticed and
informed the production manager who approached me and asked if my process could be
documented for training. I agreed and my supervisors began writing everything that I did
down and video taped everything that I did. Since then production has increased and
others soon were able produce loader arms that were no longer warped. My personal
references Dave Faller and Manny Rodriguez can verify this. They were the supervisors
at the time and are presently employed with Weisgram Metal Fab Inc.
