EXPERIENCE

February 2003 to Present ~ Engineering/Quality-HSE Manager

Plews & Edelmann Dixon, IL

Current position Engineering and Quality/HSE Manager In-charge of all

engineering and quality activity from new product introduction, sourcing

through process control and customer interactions for the Dixon, IL,

Ontario, CA and our China Supplier Operations as well as all Safety,

Environmental, and Waste Management processes/programs. I have steered

teams to certification to the ISO 9001 with TS16949 (specific) Quality

Management program at the Dixon, Juarez, and Ontario locations as well as

the ISO 14001 Environmental and OHSAS 18001 System program at the Dixon and

Ontario locations. I am also part of a team in the area of Customer focus

and Customer Satisfaction, as well as being in-charge of the Return Goods

and rework department. In charge of process activities at our suppliers in

China with a site staff (China) Quality Engineer and two Quality inspectors

reporting directly to me.

. Developed FMEAs and control plans plant wide both in Dixon, Juarez,

and China Suppliers.

. Implemented ISO9001 with specific to TS16949 in the three locations

(Dixon, Juarez, Ontario).

. Implemented ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 at the Dixon and Ontario

locations

. Assisting China suppliers on the implementation of ISO9001 and

14001

. Implemented an inspection process throughout China and Taiwan

. Developed an SPC, Data Collection, Corrective and Preventative

Action programs for our China Suppliers

. Developed a more detailed Rejection, Identification, and Disposition

(RID) program and data collection/reporting system.

. Developed a corrective and preventative action system for internal,

supplier, and outside customers

. Developed a customer complaint database tracking into corrective

actions and RID's

. Developed a supplier rating program from survey, manual, to a data

base for tracking and reporting for the group (IDEAL and Plews)

. Developed a tracking (quality) system for all operations as wells

as a new cost of poor quality program

August 2000 to February 2003 ~ Manager Quality Assurance

Bartlett Collins Sapulpa, OK

I was responsible for developing a quality program that conformed to ISO

9001/QS9000. I lead teams in the implemented of a process qualification

program using problem solving data collection, process improvement /

quality teams, and a visual work instruction program. I steered teams in

the implementation of lean manufacturing and process mapping. I developed

a Quality Board to address all internal as well as all external issues with

continuous improvement and feedback. This Quality Board had addressed 67

internal and external issues and closed out 50. Estimated savings to the

bottom line is $800,000. I have worked with lean manufacturing practices

and using Kaizens to better fit the process flow.

. Reduced machine down time by 10-15% across the plant through defining

the process maps and use of continuous programs and the six sigma

tools.

April 1999 to August 2000~ Manager Quality Assurance

Revest (Steelcase) Lithia Springs, GA

I was responsible for developing a quality program at the Lithia, GA and

the Dallas, TX Operations.

This includes the implementation of ISO 9001at both locations. These

operations manufacture moveable office furniture.

. Implemented a process qualification program using problem solving data

collection, process improvement / quality teams, and a visual work

instruction program. The company has saved in excess of 1.2 million

dollars in labor, on time deliveries and inventory control.

. Developed an SPC program to enhance and control their metal

fabrication process, which has identified major out of control areas.

Once identified, we addressed each and have reduced the rework

percentage from 28% to 2%.

August 1989 to April 1999 ~ Manager Engineering / QA

Lapp Insulator, Sandersville, GA.

I was responsible for all Quality Control / Assurance, Ceramic Engineering,

and Product Engineering activities. Major achievements include the

introduction of SPC and Process Qualifications to this operation, steered

the quality team to an ISO 9002 certification in 1995 (first electrical

porcelain in the United States certified to this standard).

. Consulted with a partnership company in China to the ISO 9001

standard. Developed a detailed data collection and graphical output

information system.

. Introduced a silicone-based coating to replace asphalt, which has

enhanced the mechanical performance of the insulator.

. Developed a more forgiving glaze and kiln (sager wash) to improve the

quality of the final product.

. Steered and developed teams in the improvement of yields on all three-

product classes by 3-5%.

. Working with suppliers on partnerships and new product designs.

. Working with customers on concerns and needs regarding the reliability

of our products.

. Have spent time auditing our casting suppliers to the QS 9000

standard as well as the ISO 9000 standard for supplier certification.

March 1986 to August 1989 ~ Manager Quality Assurance and

Process Engineering

AB Chance, Parkersburg, WV.

I was responsible for the introduction of SPC and data collection systems

throughout the operation. I developed a more forgiving glaze and a new re-

glaze formulation for high temperatures for the electrical porcelain

industrial. I developed a FMEA program for customer returns and internal

failures program.

December 1979 to March 1986 at the Nelson McCoy Pottery, Roseville, Oh.

Position held from 1979 through 1982 as a Ceramic Tech with responsible for

incoming raw material testing and in process testing. Developed a

customized quality control program and body preparation testing and control

program. From 1983 through April of 1986 held the position of Ceramic

Quality Manager.
