OBJECTIVE

• Thoroughly understanding of elastomeric materials: NR, IR, IIR, SBR, EPDM, NBR, CR, VMQ, etc
• Proficient in polymer and rubber detailed micro-structural measurement: optical microscope, AFM, SEM/TEM,
XRD/SAXS, FTIR, etc.
• Proficient in polymer and rubber thermal characterization: DSC, TGA, and DMA
• Experienced in mechanical test (tensile, compression, and impact test), viscosity, and rheological analysis
• Skilled in wide range of processing operations: Compounding, extrusion, injection molding, and compression molding, film
blowing, film casting, brabender internal mixer, mini-compounder.
• Extensive experience in thermoplastics: TPO (PE, PP, and elastomer), PVC, and PLA; engineering plastics: nylon
• Experienced in polymer synthesis for common polymerization technique: formulation of composites, free radical bulk
polymerization, solution, step-growth, and emulsion polymerization
• Skilled in wide range of rubber processing operations: polymer resin mixture machine, large continuous autoextrusion
machine, small and large plate vulcanizing machine, single and twin screw extruder, Two-Roll Mixing Mill, Three and Four-Roll
Compression Mill, injection molding machine etc.
• Skillful at software applications: Office, Origin, ChemDraw, SigmaPlot, etc.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

• Successfully completed a new product research and development project that solved the key problem in formulating new
lubricant products. This project can be used to develop a series of new lubricant products.
Postdoctoral research fellow The University of Akron, Akron OH 10.2009-08.2012
• Characterized siloxane resin new materials structure with SAXS, AFM, TEM, DMA, TGA, tensile, and rheological
analysis. This new siloxane resin materials will be used in rubber, coating, and adhesives.
• Designed the experiments; fabricated PLLA/PLGA biomaterial scaffolds by spin-coating and electro spinning
instrumentation; Studied thermal properties and morphology of PLLA/PLGA scaffolds by DSC, contact angle, AFM and SEM;
cultured cells on the scaffolds, measured the cells attachment, proliferation and vitality to substrates. This biomaterial and
method can be used in wound healing material.
• Designed a dispersion polymer/alumina nanocomposites formulation with funding from NASA, which can be used in
coating for army equipment.

• Planned and managed a cross functional research project involving investigation of nylon 6 and nylon 6/polyolefin
elastomer/clay nanocomposites. The polymer nanocomposites improved the low temperature performance of nylon 6, which can

• Planned and managed process development project that achieved excellent mechanical performance and formulatioin of
vulcanized silicone coating.
• Planned and managed a process improvement project to design a formulation, compound extrusion, and measurement of
mechanical properties of a flame retardant polypropylene composite.
• Advised and mentored six undergraduate students and two graduate students for 2.5 years and taught undergraduate
Polymer physics, Polymer composites courses and a Materials Research Method graduate course.

morphology, structure and properties of HDPE/PEB blend by OM, LSCM, NMR, SEM, TEM, DSC, DMA, and rheological
properties; synthesized HDPE grafted with fluorescent dye with solution polymerization.

be used in tires, ropes, composite materials, and other military supplies

• Process and mechanical engineering support in a manufacturing plant producing: PVC flame retardant conveyer belts,
rubber flame retardant conveyer belt, and polyurethanes products research and producing. Support improved reliability, quality,

$5,000,000/year.
