PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
RESEARCH ASSISTANT May 2012 – Aug 2012
Sustainable Materials Processing Research Group led by Professor Barati, University of Toronto, Toronto, ON
Assisted a PhD student on a “TGA Kinetic Study on the Reduction of an Iron Nickel Oxide” project involving research
level experiments on reducing an iron nickel oxide by different reductant including hydrogen, graphite, and carbon
monoxide using TGA/DTA analysis, SEM/EDS analysis and EPMA.
ASSISTANT ENGINEER May 2010 – Aug 2010
Applied Materials, SunFab Module Reliability Testing (SMRT) Lab
Brought into the global technology development centre of the company to conduct industrial level experiments to
assess different quality parameters of solar panels. Received and tested samples from around the world to facilitate
production line improvements through product quality enhancement initiatives.
QUALTIY CONTROL ENGINEER May 2009 – Aug 2009
Sinopec Yangzi Petrochemical Company Ltd.
Selected by the second largest petrol production refiner in China for gasoline, natural gas, diesel and jet fuel, ranked
the fifth largest company in sales in Forbes Global 2000. Brought on for quality control engineering position and
executed final quality control tests on petroleum products.
ENGINEERING PROJECTS
CORROSION ANALYSIS: Analyzed potential corrosiveness of different environments using Ellingham diagram to
calculate and analyze how easily materials react to form a corrosive reaction.
FRACTURE AND FAILURE ANALYSIS: Sequenced several projects to observe brittleness and fractures of different
materials and studied morphology to determine reasons for material failure through microscopic observations.
MATERIAL SELECTION AND SIMULATION: Utilized COMSOL multi-physics software simulations to maximize fluid mixes
and refine the model to achieve optimum functionality.
PLANT DESIGN: Collaborated in a 5-member team on the design of a steel mill and worked on different specifications,
production volumes, labour and environmental concerns for the production of steel billets.
VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE
PROGRAM COUNSELLOR, Red Cross Society of China Jun 2008 – Jul 2008
Served in post-earthquake psychological recovery programs in Sichuan, China.
ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN, West Vancouver Memorial Library Jun 2006 – Jun 2007
Assisted with shelving, and planned and organized community activities including Parades and book sales.
