SUMMARY
Highly motivated Senior Design Engineer with nearly 20-years of mixed-signal integrated circuit and
printed circuit board design experience, performing as an individual or team-oriented design engineer on countless projects from concept to delivery, developing a broad range of skills in analog, digital and mixed-signal circuit design, layout, verification and validation as well as team and technical management abilities and project documentation in an ISO 9001 environment. Extreme demands of research and development activities and performing on highly diverse projects exhibits my abilities to develop and design highly diverse and unique circuits, develop strong working relations with customers, vendors and other engineering groups, both internally and externally, and quickly develop skills outside my normal expertise. Desiring to effectively apply my abilities to a position that will captivate me, keep my circuit design and project management abilities sharp and expanding, enabling me to enhance my value to the position and company by continually improving personal, team and company capabilities, and creating strong, but casual relations to achieve smooth concept-to-delivery flow and promote first-pass success.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
NVE Corporation – ISO 9001, Eden Prairie, MN 6/92 – 3/12
Senior Design Engineer
Implementation and support of computers, operating systems and plotters, schematic capture,
simulation, layout and verification software packages, technology files and design kits.
o Acquired solid understanding of Microsoft, Linux and Unix operating systems, networks
and commonly available OS/script languages like dos, visual basic, c, csh, awk, perl, …
o Exposure to installing and using several design, simulation and verification for IC & PCB
software packages with implementation of symbol properties, external model libraries,
DRC/ERC/LVS technology files and various forms of PDK’s in whole or in part.
Developed and managed layout department of 3 technicians while performing part-time design
duties until 3/96, moved to full-time design duties with continued support of up to 6 technicians.
o Assured all technicians understood “good practice” fundamentals of AMS IC & PCB
layout techniques through group sessions and individual guidance.
o Standardized design, layout, verification and review procedures toward assuring first-
pass success. And standardized IC mask, die, probe-card and PCB ordering procedures to
exactly match process, test and packaging equipment requirements and capabilities.
o Provided constructive personnel reports for layout technicians year-end review process.
o Cultivated initial company relations with several software, printed circuit board and
integrated circuit photo mask and wafer manufacturing vendors.
Performed as an individual or team-oriented Design Engineer on countless sensor, isolator and
memory projects of varying complexities.
o Developed strong relations with customers to understand project goals, develop design requirements, create product concepts, deliver timeline estimates and write proposals.
o Closely collaborated with Materials & Physics PhD’s and Process Engineers to develop GMR & SDT sensor, isolator and memory cell, Spice compatible model libraries including noise and temperature parameters.
o Expanded my core abilities designing countless analog, digital and mixed-signal cells including chip frames, I/O pads & ESD protection, references, regulators, sources and mirrors, OTA to multi-stage amplifiers and comparators, GMR & SDT isolation, memory and sensor cells, analog and digital buffers, delta-sigma A/D converter, flip-flops, latches, counters, shift-registers, decoders, timing generators, laser and electrical fuses.
o Designed numerous mixed-signal systems including MRAM memories of various sizes and differing serial or parallel I/O configurations for use in space certified “Core Memory”, anti-tamper and embedded memory applications. This included developing novel “Read”, anti-tamper, memory sparing and boundary scan test mode schemes, DFT.
o Designed several sensor systems operating from DC to RF frequency ranges including ABS(anti-lock brakes), GPS(compass & positioning) and natural gas metering(remote reading and anti-tampering) to RFID tags and Smart-sensor technologies used in anti- counterfeiting and aircraft monitoring systems respectively.
o Designed several isolators(magnetic couplers) typically for isolated data communications in commercial, industrial and space qualified satellite systems with speeds up to 150Mbps(75MHz), with and without DC-correct and fail-safe outputs. Conducted isolator DFM support, device improvements, debugging and customer support.
Designed, laid-out and populated PCB’s to demonstrate feasibility and functionality of sensor,
isolator and memory products. Last completed PCB’s sell as NVE Isolator Evaluation Boards.
Knowledge of SBIR solicitations, contracts, ITAR restrictions and reporting demands.
Radiation hardened satellite and space qualified design experience.
Developed test specifications, working with technicians to debug and validate tests and designs.
Conducted test circuit, prototype and product testing to determine correct functionality
and necessity for, and/or degree of, design modifications.
Created product and component validation documentation.
Created and installed isolator competitive part cross-reference pages and database for website.
