Health Van / Harm Reduction Worker
Work directly with clients to provide services and support in a safe and
respectful environment. Health Van staff work in a fast paced environment
and will:
. Work directly with injection drug users, sex workers and street involved
individuals
. Upon request, provide clean needles, condoms and other personal care
items
. Build and maintain trusting relationships with clients who access the van
. Provide information to services such as; violence prevention
organizations, shelter and housing, addictions services and health care
. Provide "bad date" information and take reports for the Red Light Alert
Sheet
. Record contacts, incidents and log information when on shift
. Directly contact police and emergency services as needed
. Ability to maintain a non-judgmental and approachable manner is required
. Ability to function effectively in difficult and/or crisis situations is
required
I have also worked the front reception counter, worked the lunch program
for HIV/Hep C clients, worked at the Youth Clinic and assisted in HIV/Hep C
Presentations to schools, hospitals, etc.
